I don't see enough of it to know for sure that SNL currently sucks, but I assume it does since 90% of what I've seen over the last 10 years has sucked. The Trump stuff was decent, but he's such an easy target.
One thing I have noticed even in my limited viewing is what seems like a weird over-reliance on alumni and outsiders to do characters. Once in a while is "fun," but they're doing stuff the regular cast would normally be doing. They usually do recurring celeb impersonations or political figures, but is the cast roster really so thin that they have to keep bringing back old timers? There was NO ONE to do Biden so they had to bring on Jim Carrey, who was never even associated with the show? And when was Maya Rudolph ever funny even once? They've been bringing her back for stuff for years.
So Elon Musk is host? So edgy! I'm sure it'll be hilarious. The dumb thing about that choice is that most people probably don't even know who he is. And many who have probably heard the name/associate it with Tesla but really don't "KNOW" him or his personality. Makes no sense, but they've survived 50 years, I'm sure they know what they're doing.
