It's always been there. This is a topic that's years old, not months old.
And it doesn't really matter how the name was conceived, it's what it represents.
"Hey guys, it's ok. The team is called the Washington ****ers because we named it after the old ball coach. He was always like, "Daaaamn ****a", (and he was half black) so we went ahead and named the team the Washington ****ers. It's all cool though, he was ok with it"
