Smells like bullshit. You can't have a character that powerful in Star Wars. It would punch too many holes in the plot. There's zero story if Luke can just take out the bad guys with a wave of his hand. There's also no story if he turns to the Dark Side because uh, that sounds like game over for the good guys.
