Pandora, Sirius and online radio saved music. An underground following for real rock music has been brewing for a long time. But the ****ers at Clear Channel have been neutering music for years. It used to be about DJs putting their own personal spin. Instead, you have corporations picking songs based on mass appeal and bombarding the market with it.
If you like Fun, you'll like Grouplove. If you like Black Keys, listen to the older stuff -- a much more hard, funky blues sound to it or try the Cold War Kids. If you like Mumford & Sons, try the Avett Brothers and Noah and the Whale. When people say modern music is crap... if you look hard enough, lots of good music that can match to a band you used to like in a previous era.
