I hated to vote that way, but as a Franchise LOTR is arguably better than Star Wars. IV and V are great movies, but I-III and VIII are trash. III and VII are OK. All three of the LOTR movies are good.

What about the Hobbit trilogy? One could argue the those were close to the quality of the SW prequels.
