What you COULD'VE done is invest in a mid tier FA, like Vaccaro, Boston, Reid, Burnett, or Gilchrist. They were prepared to give 8.75 of their cap to Thomas, so they had the money. Any one of them would certainly be a damn sight better than this dumpster fire S core of Sorenson, Parker, Murray, and Lucas.
For any of those guys to have an impact, Sutton would have to go. None of them can do what is required out of the position. Certainly not Tre Boston. Vaccaro might have been decent, I don't know.

And Reid was never an option regardless of Berry's situation.
