I think it's really interesting that teams are throwing around lots of short-term deals with more guaranteed money. Not a bad idea for either side. The team can get rid of a stopgap quickly. The player gets to pocket the same amount of money in 2-3 years that they would probably make in twice that amount of time. All while playing in "prove it" mode where they can make even more money the next contract. I mean, Case Keenum is going to make $18M per year. Chew on that. Cousins, Bortles, Keenum, Watkins... all probably could have taken longer term deals with more years virtually guaranteed.
