This is all that we need to know at this point. We all know the O-Line sucks right now but it hopefully and likely can be fixed. We spent the ENTIRE season last year on negativity, let's just put it away for a while.

8. Alex Smith is not Peyton Manning. But last night, the Chiefs were turnover free on offense, opportunistic on defense, and that has been a winning combination in September.
I never expected Alex Smith to be anything more than 10 steps above Cassel and a notch below the elite QBs and I think up to this point, he has been perfect achieving that goal for us. NO TURNOVERS IS HUGE

7. Charles showed me a lot last night.
I posted in another thread how Charles is "sneaky strong". You expect him to go down easy and he bull crushes many LBs and other defensive guys coming in to make tackles while picking up an extra 4-5 yards. That is huge and his clock killing work ethic has helped in two of our first three wins.

6. Smith spread the ball around to seven receivers, which is the same as the Dallas game. Donnie Avery had a great game with seven catches and 141 yards, 120 of them were yards after the catch. Smith is not throwing the ball 20 yards down field. He's throwing the ball four yards down field, and the receiver does the rest. Bowe had one catch all night for short yards, but did a great job blocking down field, both for Avery on his cross field jaunts, and for Charles on his catches in the flat. Bowe is growing up. I think he gets it now. He's becoming a team player and not just "Bowe Show." That's big, and that's what a team leader should do and be.
I learned that Avery is much, much better than I realized last night. I really would like to see at least 2-3 passes a game of at least 20 yards and only 5 yard passes all year will not cut it. Remember that great 25 yards pass that Alex Smith hit Fasano in the hands with during our opening game that he dropped? Why not a few more of those a game?
I really want to see Bowe more involved so that he does not feel slighted as receivers in the league usually do when the ball is not going to them that much. He need at least a minimum pf 4-5 catches a game with being targeted 7+ times. I want this to improve for Bowe and the team. He is too good to become a full time blocker

5. People were grousing that the Chiefs should have been up by much more after the first quarter. Tyson Jackson was getting held again this week. If anyone had any question as to whether Houston deserved his All Pro status at the end of last year, consider his night: 3.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, a pass tipped and three successfully defended passes in the flat -among his seven total tackles. That's a Derrick Thomas style game changing performance.
Count me among the early griping as it left Philly too many opportunities to beat us and put too much pressure on our D.
In the three games, I have actually counted 11-12 BLATANT holds against our defensive front that have not been called. Dallas and Philly must know how to hold so the even though the cameras may see, the refs don't. I saw Hali get yanked down from behind when he was closing in on Vick. I was shocked there was no call.
Houston is pure gold!

4. Secondary had a good night overall. This defense will give up huge chunks on occasion. You can live with that when forcing five turnovers. But when the turnovers dry up, that could be a big problem down the road.
I think our secondary had a better than good night, they played excellent. Philly saw a weakness in one of our defensive alignments and blew a whole in it several times up the gut for HUGE runs. That can't happen. Our defense is FORCING turnovers for the first time since Marty ball-AMEN to that!

3. Bad night for Chiefs tackles.
No need for me to write anymore-we all saw that pathetic display.

2. Dustin Colquitt is special. Dexter McMidget should be kept off the punt team. Put Demps back there.
Yes, Yes, and Yes.

1. Last but not least, congratulations to Andy Reid. And the post game off the field "interview" with Sal Paolantonio was comedy gold. So, our boys are 3-0. It's been a September to remember. Hopefully we can keep the September mojo going for one more Sunday against the G-Men. Stop worrying about Alex Smith and line blocking and third down efficiency and such, and think about this: Six out of the last seven times the Chiefs started 3-0, they made the playoffs. I like our chances.
100% agree again and I'm so excited to be coming to Arrowhead for the first time ever next week at 3-0 and playing the Giants! I will be in the parking lot trying to tailgate with a bunch of CP'ers as soon as the gates open.
I have no complaints, only the hope our O-Line turns it around and we stay injury and turnover free.

Two "Ten Things" in less than a week is like hitting the lottery!

Great GBlowfish and I hope we can meet in Kansas City next weekend for a drink.
