The Colts' kicker that year was 15th in FG% (19/24), but he made all his XPs.
I don't know who was available, but there were 19 teams with statistically worse kickers than the Chiefs that season who didn't replace them.

It wasn't over the course of the whole year. He absolutely lost it the last month of the season. He missed an XP and a FG against the Dolphins on Monday night, forcing the Chiefs to go for it on 4th down to tie when a chip shot FG would have tied it, then he missed another two XPs and a FG against the Raiders the following week, then another FG against Denver the week after
You can't miss six kicks, including three XPs, in three weeks and keep your job.
