If we were to 100% give up on social distancing and just say **** it in favor of going for herd immunity, we'd be talking about deaths in the millions even in the "best case" scenario.

I’ve read some stuff recently that there might be some weird stuff about this one that would allow immunity to be around 30-40%. I can’t remember the specifics on it though, but with the stuff coming to light about kids and young adults wiping it with the innate system, that helps a lot woth immunity
