Getting the staff was a great quest. I thought it was like... the first artifact of many I would have to acquire to destroy the eye and bring peace to the realm. Instead I take it back, let Ancano kill himself, and then the order comes and takes the eye away to guard it. The end. Talk about anticlimactic.

It doesn't much compare to the mages guild quests in Morrowind or Oblivion in any way. Morrowind you damn near usurp the Arch Mage title, and in Oblivion the Mannimarco quest almost seemed more urgent than the main quest.
