North Carolina and Duke are in a conference vying with 2 others for a single seat at the grownups table. If the rest of their conference really is sick of dealing with them, the ACC could start to look like the XII did a year ago.

UNC and Duke are in a conference that poached two of the elite schools in the Big East. Their conference is stable. They won't leave their golden position to go to the SEC where football is king (which both are relatively weak in). They could easily schedule UK without having to go to the basketball weak SEC to do that.
