A year and a half ago I went to Mexico. We were touring the Chacchoben ruins and our tour guide, a Mayan descendent, asked if we had any questions. I asked about this whole 2012 end of the Mayan calendar thing. He did say it was the end of a cycle, but the end of the cycle didn't mean anything and didn't indicate any sort of change.

Also, I don't understand why people think that just because the MAYAN calendar ends, that means the world ends. WTF? Since when do the Mayans know everything? If they knew so much, then maybe they should have known how to keep their society from disappearing...
