I attempted to make my point very poorly ...
Let's say that the Espinal Gang is a real thing. Let's say that the gang includes Baby Mama, her parents, Meredith, and an assortment of Baby Mama's other friends (including, perhaps, an ex-boyfriend-type person).
Now, let's say the original plan didn't work as well as they hoped (because the arm had been broken long before Meredith pulled the trigger on her tweet). So let's say Baby Mama (with a possible history of self-harm and Munchausen's to her credit) beats the living crap out of Damien which led to the "welts and bruises" we've all heard so much about.
And when that went nowhere (because the DA couldn't identify a perp), let's say she acted out a scene which led to Tyreek calling the cops on their house once more. And let's say that Baby Mama's phone has an email from her pops suggesting such an act might work. But let's say things still weren't going their way.
So finally, let's say that one of the Espinal Gang members (in the form of Baby Mama's friend) is instructed to release the tape to KCTV5 in order to further tighten the screws on Tyreek. We know from KCTV5's apology that they knew the tape was an "insurance policy" intended to generate money from Tyreek. And that, my friends, can be easily construed as "collusion in an attempt to extort".
The fact that they edited the tape (and promoted it) in the way that they did leaves them vulnerable to libel and defamation ... which is a lesser problem than "knowing accessory to blackmail".
