tree triming?

I always wonder about the brains of the guy thatoperates our building.

So there is a cre of guys trimming all the trees around the office. And by trim I mean butcher. Isn't that going to kill the trees? Especially since they are chopping half the limbs off.

Same guy paid a group to replace all the windows in the building. Taken twice as long to do. They geniuses also did the empty floors first, while replacing the occupied upper floors during the winter.

Then the parking lot. Started before I came on. Was suppose to take 6months for a mil and half. Now at one and half years and over five million for it. And the damn part done is garbage and will not last two years.

Back on topic. For anyone who has experience, won't thiskill the trees this time of year?

Most trees can be pruned back pretty severely before they're affected. I had about 40% of a red oak removed and it's actually doing better now. It was really in need of a pruning, though.

I don't know how much you can prune a parking lot. Do you get to drink on the job?

Won't hurt them, but there's ways to do it that are more aesthetically pleasing than just hacking away.

As I understand it you're better off doing it in the winter because the tree is dormant and it should be less likely to get bugs or disease until it's had some opportunity to heal.

I also believe you can take off up to 1/3 of the canopy with no harm.

Actually, between late-November to mid-February is the best time to trim trees, especially oaks.

Do you happen to work in a building up by the airport? Sounds a lot like a building my company recently did some work in.
