Earl Thomas a longshot to be a Chief

They just said on ESPN we were on the list of teams that he could be dealt to.

Right.

Plus for everybody saying the NFL isn't like baseball, it's more like baseball than EVER before. With the newer rules and the emphasis on the passing game, more than ever before, the NFL is about individual players at skill positions.

This isn't the same old NFL it's always been. There absolutely is a place in the 2018 NFL for putting your team over the top at the trading deadline.

I think a first round pick with 5 years of cost control has more value to our defense than 12 games of Thomas. We can get a stud there. If we are talking a 2nd or a 3rd for Thomas. I can get behind that idea.

No one is giving up a 1st rnd pick for Earl Thomas. Why did you have to go with two unlikely extremes here?

KC's offense is essentially set for the foreseeable future...and they have an entire draft, next year, to spend on defense.

Flip a 2nd (Peters pick) for Thomas..he's a no lose proposition barring injury. Unless the thought of missing out on the next Speaks/K-pass scares you...

so-
you know, I posted earlier that this isn't MLB and a small market team has a tiny window to compete so you absolutely spend all possible capital to make use of that window, it's the NFL and so you have a window as long as you have a franchise QB.

That being said, taking a page from the Royals playbook here-there was a lot of talk last offseason about how the Safety position was 'devalued' and corners were what all the teams were spending the money on, drafting their safeties instead. AND-offensive yardage is way, way up league-wide. Perhaps the NFL was remiss.

IF the problem is not scheme, it would appear that Sutton's scheme as it currently exists is dependent on excellent Safety play. Maybe it'd be worth it to have the hands-down no contest best safety tandem in football.

Earl Thomas is going to cost more but you don't think he has 4 or 5 years in him? And it's not going to be a high pick, someone should go look at like the last 5 drafts and fine me someone taken between 25-32 that you'd trade Earl Thomas for.

First of all, it won't be a 1st round pick.

And second, he's not signing anywhere if he's not getting a new deal.

This isn't a 12-game rental.

If he's coming here, it's for 3-4 years and large money.

The talk on Good Morning Football this morning was that the increase in offense has led to an increase in ratings, and the shield is hell bent on protecting qb's and offense as that is the future of the league. Chiefs just need to get this defense to respectable....and Earl Thomas does that instantly.

Get it done Veach!

See now you're seeing it. NFL passing and passing TDs are on pace to break every record ever. This just isn't the same old NFL anymore. Times are changing. It's time to get ahead of the curve.

I'd argue that the increase in ratings is not from an increase in offense, but instead a plethora of fresh, new young QB talent. The NFL has been in a QB dry spell for the past few years while the last of the old guard play out their final seasons.
