Game of Thrones *Spoiler* Thread
There's been some recent confusion with the old spoiler thread, so I'm kicking off a new one for tonight's premiere. This is going to be the one for folks who've read all the books. So anything anybody might want to talk about is in bounds. Suffice to say, if you haven't read the books, you'll probably want to stay out of here until you do...
I'll bump the old spoiler-free thread shortly in case anybody's interested. For future reference the link to that one is here |

Brother and sister targayen's married before. I doubt him being her nephew really would matter much.

Not that I've ever seen. Nor would it seem to make much sense. Tywin's wife died giving birth to Tyrion, which is one reason why Tywin isn't a fan of Tyrion's. While Selmy discusses how King Aerys lusted for Tywin's wife, but there's no suggestion that he ever actually slept with her. Also, I believe Tyrion was born at Casterly Rock, and there's no hint that she and Aerys were within the same zip code nine months earlier. Unlike the situation with Jon, there are no hints that would lead to this belief that I'm aware of.

There are certainly a few hints that Tyrion could be a Targ through King Aerys and Joanna Lannister having an affair, or the king forcing himself on her. Not good evidence like with R+L=J, but you can make a case. Tyrion is obsessed with dragons, has no fear of fire, has white blond hair like a Targ instead of golden, has one eye that is black (Targ eyes often look black until they show as dark purple in the sun), etc., plus Selmy tells Dany that there was something there between Aerys and Joanna.
Of course you could also make a case for Jaime and Cersei to be Targs. A thread on the topic of Tyrion as a Targ at westeros.org is linked here: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php...rgaryen/page-3 And either Tyrion or Jaime will kill Cersei, that much seems to be a given based on the prophecy Cersei received that has been pretty accurate so far. Cersei certainly believes it will be Tyrion as the "Valonquar" or little brother who kills her, but Jaime was born after Cersei, so he could technically fit the prohecy too, and for whatever reason he seems the more likely candidate to me. You can read up on Cersei's prophecy from Maggy the Frog here: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Maggy Last edited by Hawk; 03-17-2014 at 11:53 AM.. |

Saw this article today as well. Sounds to me like GRRM thinks it will go seasons 5-7 for AFFC and ADWD, then 8/9 for Book 6, and then 9/10 for book 7. That makes more sense to me than the producers saying they hope to do it in 7 seasons.

Perhaps, but she had her future read by that Maegi when she was a girl saying she would be killed by a young beautiful queen after she herself was queen. Cersei believes that other queen to be Margarey, knowing nothing of Danerys.

Actually, the young beautiful queen is supposed to cast her down and take everything away from her (sounds like Margery...maybe Dany I suppose), but the prophecy was that after her kids all die, her little brother would kill her by choking the life out of her with his bare hands. So it has to be Jaime or Tyrion if you believe the prophecy. All the rest of it has come true, so I would think that part will too (in these books, reliable prophecies tend to be reliable throughout, and this one appears to be reliable). I posted a link above that contains the relevant book excerpts on the prophecy.

I'm already preparing myself for an "unclean" and many questions unanswered ending.

I don't think they all are Targs, but with the hints laid out in the books about Joanna Lannister and King Aerys, if those two were having an affair, then it is theoretically possible that all Joanna's kids are Targs. But the most evidence is for Tyrion due to his dragon obsession and hair and eye coloring. Some people hope he is so that he can be the third head of the dragon.

King Joffrey @King_Joffrey_ 1h
George R.R. Martin just hinted at the possibility of Game of Thrones movies after the series ends. I have a serious #throner right now. |

Hope that chapter is legit.
The writing was a little uneven and didn't quite "ring" as George R.R. Martin's voice. Plumm turning his cloak again seems like a foregone conclusion.
