Damn.
Even though they were going to get smacked in the first round, I was still looking forward to them making the playoffs. Hate that Kobe had to end his season/career this way. But I do think he'll be back. Even if he's just averaging 15/5/4. ****.

They probably would have won either way, but with the Lakers you have the huge chance that Kobe and Howard get a ton of shitty "star calls" by the refs.

I'm just devastated by this as a Laker fan. I fell asleep early last night and woke up at 4 AM and saw this news. Just awful for the greatest player I'll ever have on one of my sports teams in my lifetime.
I don't blame Pringles though. I hate that MF, but Kobe is going to play the minutes Kobe wants to play. I just read a rumor on Twitter that D'Antoni is already tired of the pressure of Lakerland and will likely work on a buyout over the summer. Howard has gone to management and told them he wants Phil next year so I expect some type of smoothing over process if this were in fact true. I don't think the Phil bridge is completely burned.

I think you'll now see an entire gameplan of screen rolls with Nash and Howard.

by the way
I bet you any amount of anything the Lakers are now a better team without Kobe. I've said this all along. Not a bash on Kobe, but now D'Antoni can finally play his style with Nash and Howard. |

The Lakers are terrible because the defense is atrocious. D'Antoni never has coached a defensive team ever in his career. The guards have no idea what to do. Steve Blake is collapsing down on Harrison Barnes driving the lane and leaving Steph Curry wide open when he has the best inforcer in the league guarding the rim. That's on D'Antoni. The Lakers have guys that can play defense. Not with him though. Under Brown they played fine defense last year. The notion that the Lakers would be better without Kobe is quite frankly laughable.

There is no way the Lakers are going to better without Kobe. Nash isn't healthy and D'Antonis system doesn't fit their roster. This is like Rondo or Ewing because they don't have Doc Rivers or Pat Riley. Anyone who thinks the Lakers are going to be better has no objectivity when it comes to Kobe period. He's the only thing that has been keeping this team afloat all year.

Houston can't beat OKC in 7 games. They are horrible defensively and turn it over more than we do. Denver, SA, Memphis and the Clippers are the only team witha chance in the West.

well that's just my opinion...
Kobe has impressed me this year nonetheless. I was also VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY impressed by his facebook post. That was awesome. I really liked it. No joke. It was powerful. |

and I'm just saying...if Nash is healthy and the Lakers get away from being Kobe's team (when D'Antoni needs it to be Nash's team) they may actually be able to win a playoff game or two.
I think they were going to get swept with Kobe...regardless of how beast Kobe has been playing. His facebook post made me go from absolutely hating Kobe to at least respecting him as a competitor...even though I still think him being considered a great "closer" is a ****ing joke. |
