Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

Figure some of the old school gun collectors here might be able to appreciate this one.
I'm on a .22 kick right now. Working on a deal for a Colt Woodsman 2nd edition to add to my pistol collection. |

I've kinda been on a .22 kick myself. Just bought a GSG 1911 in. 22. I really enjoy shooting the 1911's. I figured the .22 would be a good option when I don't have time to sit down at the reloading bench as far as cheap plinking goes.

If you want to shoot 7.62x39, just get an AK.
If you want the equivalent AR, get a piston return 6.8 spc. |

One of the reasons I decided to not go the Kimber Custom II route is I thought It'd get a entry-mid level 1911; I think I've allmost decided on the Taurs PT1911.
The reason for this is so with the left over money that I would have spent on the Kimber is to get a .22. I really like the Walther P22, though I haven'[t shot it. Fun as shit to shoot, and dirt cheap. My brother and I will go to the range and shoot our normal 9mm's etc, then at the end, we'll play with the .22; and who ever reachs 50 (or whatever we decide) from X distance and wins by 2, buys lunch/BBQ on the way home. Good times.

A .22 (rifle) will be my next purchase. I'm not sure what to get though. The Ruger 10/22 is near the top of my list just because its a great gun and there are tons of accessories for it. But I also like the Henry survival gun. I actually almost bought a Mossberg Plinkster last weekend on a whim...$149. Its obviously not the quality of a 10/22 but, at less than half the cost, it would be a fun plinking gun. I was also considering one of the MP5 lookalike .22s for my wife.

I want that as well. I love that the HK replica maintains the same bolt action at the front, and not like the typical .22 10/22 etc.

Glock 19 or 26? Opinions? Want to carry it, smallish statured guy, have handled a G23, felt very nice, I assume the 26 would be similar in size to the 23.

Well, a Glock is a Glock. Can't argue with the quality and dependability. I used to have a 26, but never really cared for it that much - the grip is just too short, IMO. Traded it to one of my friends (which I wouldn't have done had I ever believed Illinois would get conceal carry). He got it tricked out with a better trigger and a guide rod laser, which made it better. But I still hate the grip. I like the feel of my Smith M&P 9c much better.

IMO, you'll need to get an extended magazine for the 26 to make it feel right in your hand. Out of those two I'd get the 19, personally. I went into a gunshop to get a Glock 19 and ended up with a Springfield XD9. The grip is a little bit longer and it just felt better in my hand.

Thanks. Current carry piece is S&W 642. Both the 19 and 26 would be a step up in power and capacity. The 642 is 15 oz unloaded, the 19 is 30.25 oz and the 26 is 19.75 oz. Seems like the 26 is made to carry, but it does look tiny. Would hate to order the 19 and not like it, twice as heavy as my current one so the difference might be very noticeable. Supply is so short though, I doubt I'd be able to walk into a gun shop and handle both before making a decision.

my BIL carries a G19; no problems. I will carry my XD9 whenever I get off my ass to get my CCW.
both are fine options. you'll be good to go.

The problem with the XD is that the grip is just a bit too long to be a good CC weapon. That 19 round capacity comes at a price.

I actually thought about buying one of these a year or two back but kinda balked at the price of $500 for a Romanian WASR. Could not justify it for something I would not shoot much. Wound up going the sks route. Now wishing I had bought one considering the same gun going for over a grand. Yikes.
