All trolling of Blues fans aside, this is going to be a great series and could definitely go 7. If by some miracle (trolling again) the Blues beat the Avs, I'll be a Blues fan for the rest of the playoffs - once I get over the heartbreak. Love O'Reilly's game and I really like Saad and what he brought to the Avs last year. But if the Avs lose in the second round again I might swear off hockey for ....no I won't, who am I kidding?

Kadri is one of those Danny Ainge-type guys that you absolutely despise until he's on your team, then you love him. He's one of my favorite players, tbh, and hopefully we can find a way to keep him.

It's funny to me how my own perceptions of O'Reilly and Duchene have morphed over the years. When O'Reilly forced his way out of Denver, it seemed like he was full of himself and just mad that the C went to Landy instead of him. But over time, it's become pretty clear that he was absolutely able to back up the talk and the contract he got, so it's hard to hate the guy for believing in himself and proving that he was right.

Meanwhile, Duchene was the one of our favorites for years (I even had a jersey of his for a while, albeit a cheap knockoff). He forced himself off the team in hopes of playing in the playoffs, and the teams he's been on have underachieved ever since. Couple that with badmouthing the team a bit, and he's now largely thought of as a diva who was full of himself but COULDN'T back it up. I don't boo the guy like many do, but it's clear that he was as much of the problem as he was the solution. In the end, getting Girard and Byram out of that trade (plus a few others) has been huge for building to where we are today.

So in short, it's hard to dislike O'Reilly. Duchene's a dumb dumb.

So you'd have more talent on the ice and fewer goons.

Go to the source. Beat the shit out of Kadri. Will it change him? Eh, maybe not. But in time he'll start to play tentatively. He'll jake that puck into the corner because he KNOWS that if he heads down there, someones gonna finish their check and next time it may not be Girard that ends up in the ER.

And the big key is that this cannot be forgotten. Ever. He's done it twice now and so for as long as you ever see him on the other side of the ice you need to remind him that you haven't forgotten about it. And you need to make his life hell.
I once told a guy that every cheap shot he takes on me I will do the same to his teammates at their bench , he never took a shot at me again.

I've never cared nearly as much as others when it comes to players wanting out of organizations... they of course see a lot we don't and if an org is a shitshow, I'd want out, too. Of course, some athletes just have huge egos or won't be happy anywhere.

Similar thoughts on both players... Duchene seemed to be a bit more of a douche than I remembered and of course it's kind of amusing on how it played out in the end.

That's the fact Jack. Bennington was in the crease of course his defenseman helped to ride Kadri towards the goal but Kadri could have lessoned the contact. He had a free shot and took it and looks, suspect. The league won't suspend during playoffs because of suspicions.

Good on you Kadri you got one over on the Blues you win. No way the Blues can afford retaliation down 2-1 but there is always next year

My thought for a long time was that must be the way, but then I watched college hockey for several years and there's no fighting or much in terms of shenanigans... same for Olympic hockey, IIHF, etc.

The bigger ice helps with that, which of course the NHL will never change... and not diving into all of the other differences and what not, but of course it's just something entrenched in the cultural of the NHL, which ended up hiring someone with a million PIMs in their career to lead the DOPS.

And of course we're going to miss the beginning again. I don't understand why they schedule these only 2.5 hours apart. I don't even know what they'd do if it goes to OT.

And if they could just be transparent about it given the idiocy of not using both TNT and TBS..... we all know :30 generally means :38, but sometimes it's been :45 and tonight :50.

Embarrassing, but not surprised they lost. Would have expected them to put up some sort of fight. Did not think they would win the series after how they played against the Capitals who aren’t as good as they were in previous years.

Despite the goal, you have to feel good about the Avs pressure so far.

If that means Toews will continue having brutal turnovers in the Avs dzone, I'm all for it.

Just feels a lot like game 1 to me. We'll see if Husso can keep it up like Bennington.
