and in the past 5 years I just remember Kobe winning 2 titles and thinking 'he didn't do one damn thing to make me think he was the absolute X factor in those titles'
one of the years Gasol should have been the Finals MVP...not sure which one and his 6-24 game Ray Allen just shit himself unbelievably and basically handed that title to the Lakers...because Kobe was busy shitting all over himself as well oh and wake me up when someone write's "Kobe's Moment" http://www.newyorker.com/archive/199...IBRY_000017085 |

although I'll go ahead and say I think Dennis Rodman deserved the Finals MVP in 1996 (the Sonics finals) over MJ

of course I imagine 'King' the Lakers fan to be no older than 22 so I doubt he even remembers Jordan playing

These arguments are always funny because Hootie never gets it through his head that no one is saying Kobe is better than Jordan.

Jordan was the one time in my life as a sports fan where I could have optimism...you know how we feel when the game is on the line and we trot out our kicker or Matt Cassel or whatever for that one final drive and we all know we're ****ed and don't have a shot in the world?
Well yeah. With a minute left and a tie game and MJ on the court back when I was a kid and still believed in heroes and good things and Derrick Thomas...with 1 minute left and the game being tied everyone EVERYONE knew MJ was going to win. Bulls fans, opposing fans, Jordan haters...the people in the arena. Everyone knew it was over. There hasn't been a player in any sport even remotely close to that since. That's why MJ was great. |

I love talking about MJ.
1998 was the last year in my life to date where I had optimism about my sports team and knew my team would win no matter how close the score was... Since then the Chiefs have pretty much ****ed the optimism right out of my asshole without using any lube. |

That's just off the top of my head. Game 4 against Phoenix when he hit the game-tying shot in regulation and then hit the game winner in OT. You are really absurd if you think that Kobe Bryant hasn't had more than 5 performances that fit that bill. That's 3 off the top of my head without researching anything. There's more. But scoring 40 some in a playoff win is absolutely a clutch performance.

The 2000-2001 playoffs he was a man possessed. The Lakers lost 2 games the entire playoffs. I think Kobe had a run of 3 straight 40 point double digit rebounds performance if I remember correctly.
