If I had to choose, I would go a few miles north to Sanibel Island. Even though I'm older, I associate Marco as more for seniors and more for homeowners. Sanibel is more for a younger crowd, resorts, and you have Ft. Myers nearby if you want more to do.

Wow, that looks really nice (for Florida). And there's a Hilton?

Yes. The girlfriends boss has a timeshare there and unexpectedly cannot make it, so he offered it to her to go.

Marco isn’t bad, it’s packed this time of year with all the snow birds as is everywhere down here now. You’re 30 min from Naples and 60 min from Sanibel. The food scene is pretty awful, there are a few places to eat in Naples that I’m familiar with, Marco I’m not.

Not really impressed with the reviews I'm reading online, but that's OK, we make our own fun.

If you are thinking about Sanibel you might as well go all the way to Captiva.

Marco
MIL lives there, we go once a year. Beaches are good, overall the island is very nice. But as others have said it is an older crowd and there isn’t much to do although easy to get out fishing. Dining and nightlife suck. Naples beach / pier area have a lot more to do, dining, younger crowd, about 30-40 min drive from Marco.
