Favorite moments in sports... a video thread.
What are some of your all time favorite, singular, moments in sports?
Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS - Braves vs Pirates. Braves were down 2-0 in the bottom of the 9th. Braves get the score to 2-1 on a Ron Gant Sac Fly that brings home Terry Pendleton (former Cardinal for anyone who might not remember). With 2 outs, bottom of the 9th, in Game 7... a ****ing nobody 3rd string catcher (who had only played 12 games for 10 ABs for the Braves that season) named Fransico Cabrera is brought in as a pinch hitter with the bases loaded. David Justice is on 3rd and the slowest man on Earth, Sid Bream, is on 2nd. The count is 2-1 and then... BETTER VIDEO QUALITY HERE (but I love Skip Caray's call in the first video SO much more) Fun fact...“Van Slyke told MLB Network that on the Francisco Cabrera game-winning hit, he motioned to Barry Bonds to move in. Bonds responded by giving him the finger, and the ball ended up landing exactly where Van Slyke said to play.” |

This one (starting at 1:30) has always stood out to me. During the live broadcast, the crowd noise was insane at the end, even by Arrowhead standards.

I'm curious... do you have any recollections of Clemente? Did you get to watch him play? As for Sid the Sloth. Sorry, not sorry. That play/game cemented me as a Braves fan for the rest of my life. |

As a life long Orioles fan who actually witnessed Rocky Colavito hit four homers against the O's in one game on June 10, 1959 in person, we've been in six World Series and won 3, lost two to the Pirates, so I ****ING HATE the Pirates!!!
Chiefs fans might like this one, I know anytime the Steelers lose, I love it. One of my favorite on field memories is the Mile High Miracle. The 2012 AFC Championship Game in Denver with 35 seconds left in the game, third down on your own 30 yard line going up against Peyton Manning. Denver ahead 35 - 28. Joe Flacco drops back and hits Jacoby Jones for 70 yards and the tying touchdown and the home fans scream. The game goes to double overtime and the Ravens win sending them on their way to winning their second Super Bowl against the 49ers. Fan view from Mile High Stadium Denver Rookie kicker Justin Tucker kicks 47 yard field goal in double-overtime to the win the game, now considered the best kicker in the NFL. My favorite off-field sports moment is Robin Williams explaining the game of golf. |

Even though I'm an O's fan, I lived in Georgia in the 70s and 80s twice for a total of 10 years and watched many Braves games on TV and went to several games in the 80s at old Fulton County Stadium. If the O's don't win, I like the Braves. It was hard not to like Bobby Cox, Dale Murphy, the announcing team on TBS, everything was great about the Braves in the 80s.

This was a big deal when it happened. Greer's catch is legend.

Dirk taking Bosh off the dribble for a game winner, no one saw this coming. Dirk scored 9 in a row to end it, Mavs were down 15 with 7 minutes left.
Making this even sweeter was LeBron not scoring a point in the 4th. Which is why I have never respected him.

Before the SB win it was Keith Cash spiking the ball into Buddy Ryan's face in the end zone.. It was the first time as a fan I felt like we could win a SB.
During the SB it was Williams TD run to seal the game. That wast first moment I knew what it felt like to win a SB...
