Let's talk about the Cleveland Browns (Divisional Round)

A little surprised, but not THAT surprised.

Cleveland didn't upset Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh was a mirage most of the year. Cleveland just opened the curtains.

The way to beat a good team without a glaring weakness like the Chiefs is that you have to stand toe to toe and play better in all phases for 60 minutes. Trickery and gimmicks aren't going to work. Relying on them shows you don't think you can beat them for 60 minutes. The Browns shouldn't fall into that trap where they come out with a mindset that they are already behind when the coin is flipped.
They're going to try everything. We should expect the Browns to go for it on 4th down and anything less than 5 yds, once they get past the 50. I would expect a fake punt on every attempt. We're going to see a healthy percentage of tricks plays.

It's going to be the football version of guerilla warfare. CLE can't beat the Chiefs in a set-piece battle. They're going to have to surprise us with multiple 'smoke and mirror' plays. And they're pretty much all going to have to be successful.

True, but can you imagine him lining up opposite Hill and having Mahomes throwing him the rock instead of Trubisky? Id feel sorry for defenses

I'm sure Veach can imagine it. He'll probably be tempted.

Did we get an injury report? I hadn't heard anything except that he didn't appear to be at practice today. No actual reason for why not.

And Sammy didn't take any shot on twaddle. He said the game wasn't over, because it was just the end of the first quarter. If that's taking a shot, then the world has gotten way too soft.

the more i see on the game the more this has shootout written all over it .

i didnt know KC's defense was the 32nd in redzone defense. browns are the 4th rated redzone offense scoring tds on 72% of the time.

can we see a 52-48 game ?

Anything is possible.

But the Chiefs defense would have to play their worst game since 2018. Before Spags was hired, before Clark and Mathieu were signed, etc. So not likely.

Would be fun to watch, though.

Browns get in the red zone, just chalk up a TD because the Chiefs are pretty pathetic in that area.

Here's the thing:

Against playoff-bound teams in the top 16 of red zone percentage, the Chiefs allowed 29, 17, 20, and 24 points. They only gave up 29 points to the Saints, for example. When you break down the Chiefs schedule, and focus in on the good teams, things look much different than their overall averages.

In terms of total DVOA, they beat the #1, #2, #4, and #7 teams in the league, ALL on the road.

Chiefs defense has been really good in the final stretch of the season. A lot of our stats are tilted to beginning of season when our defense was somewhat struggling. It's also inflated quite a bit because kc hasn't been great at protecting big leagues. I don't think it'll be a shootout. I could see kc getting up early and kc D giving some yards and points as CLE claws from behind.

There's zero chance the Browns score 48 points.

The Chiefs gave up 40 one time and more than 30 only twice after that.

Just heard this on NFL Live: Andy Reid is 26-5 including the playoffs after a bye (12-14 days off).

Absurd.
