Xfinity home and NOT Xfinity modem/router

I dumped the Xfinity modem router and bought a different modem and router.

Modem
https://www.microcenter.com/product/...30-cable-modem

Router
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-RT-AX300...s%2C188&sr=8-1

But My xfinity home will not connect. Xfinity wants to come out and put in another router to connect to their security system.

Can anyone help me configure my new stuff so I do not have to add anything else?

Internet searches yielded no help.

Sounds like you have to activate new 3rd party equipment...

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my own equipment to Comcast?
You can purchase your own retail modem for use with your Xfinity Internet and/or Voice service, as long as the equipment is certified to work on our network. Before buying from the retailer of your choice, please go to mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com to find certified retail equipment that supports your Internet speed tier.

If you're an existing customer and need to know your level of service, see which level of Xfinity services you subscribe to. Then, after buying compatible retail equipment, install and activate it and start enjoying your service. To learn more, see more about installing and activating your purchased modem with Xfinity service

What are my responsibilities when buying and using my own equipment with Xfinity service?
You're responsible for making sure your retail device is secure and certified, that it supports your Xfinity Internet service speed, and for upgrading your equipment when we increase speeds. Visit mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com for compatibility.

Ahh.

Don't know shit about that. I'd still recommend looking going here: http://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/

And checking there to see if you need to activate/reactivate your Home from there? But I don't have Xfinity and have no clue how their shit works.

Most places require you to authorize your device. Usually they whitelist you MAC address and if it changes, no connection.

even the router? ugh. I do have internet everywhere in the house. Better than with their router and pods.

I do not think the guy I talked to understood what I needed. The modem had to be authorized.

Someone coming out tomorrow. Maybe he can help and fix it.

I am not going to use their external router and mine.

Looking at the links that Fish provided, Comcast is probably only authenticating the modem. If you were able to complete that step, the modem itself should be working.

Did you try plugging a PC directly into the modem to see if it worked? That would be the first thing I try because it's likely to be the first thing THEY try.

They'll plug in a PC and if it works, they'll tell you it's your problem.

Chatted with Asus. They said Xfinity will have to reconfigure my security to find the new router. If they say they cannot, I will dump the security too and find something else. May be time to upgrade my other cams anyway. Foscam has good cams. Their software on PC stinks.

I'm sure their all-in-one wifi home device has some special security setup so that you can't just change it out without them knowing and hassling you about it.

Update:

They added their secure router with wireless for Xfinity security. Their security system will not work without secure anything from them. No matter what you use.

We are working on getting the camera going. They swapped one out and am working on getting it connected.

Technology is great when it works.

I handle support for my Mom's Xfinity account. I'll say this about their service: when it's working it works great. But when you have to call them and trouble shoot or make changes it's a ****ing nightmare.

When you called them did you get a rep that sounded like a young Asian girl? I don't know if I get the same person every time or if their call center is somewhere in Thailand.

No one is here in America. I have got great help from the Xfinity store.

We (me) am thinking about dumping their one cam security system and buying a Simplisafe multi cam and system. Then dumping the older cams I have. Foscams are good, their software sucks.

That would pull everything Xfinity out except for the internet.

When he came to put in the xfinity secure router. The first one did not work. 3x. Then connecting the cam did not work 3x. Then he added a new cam. I did the work on that. Xfinity needs to learn that if the first one does not work-go get a new one out of the truck.

Everything is working well EXCEPT the xfinity security and camera

The security system lags, has interference and last night caught up on door openings. So at 11:01 last night-set off the alarms. It thought a door opened when it did not.
Can't get the camera to stay connected to anything more than 1 second.

I am done. I am doing to have them come get it after the holidays and buy a new system. Most likely Simplysafe.
