Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

The Tim Burton version of Catwoman (Batman Returns) is brilliant cinema.

I dont know if this is true, but I heard she forgot what her line was supposed to be so she just threw out meow before the explosion.

I just made a weird casting connection tonight.

The mob boss in Boondock Saints who is on trial at the end is Chloe's husband in 24. Weird.

I just watched Defiance and The International on DVD. Pretty decent flicks, worth a rental. And two of my favorite actors right now in the lead, with Daniel Craig and Clive Owen. Also a big fan of Naomi Watts (The International) in a Diane Lane sort of way.

I want to see Defiance. I was skeptical about The International. I will check them both out now.

You like Clive Owen? I mean he's OK, but all I can think about is that GOD AWFUL King Arthur movie.

Very good, dystopian, P.C., but I have a soft heart for painstakingly choreographed set pieces, and this has some of the best since Apocalypse Now.
I won't spoil you by outlining them, suffice it to say there are a couple of extended scenes where you'll be completely immersed and scared to death, and not in a 'Nightmare on Elm Street' way but in a 'how the eff do they survive this' way.
Very immediate and gripping, and very not-CGI [though there surely were some CGI touchups, it's as far from Transformers/Speed Racer as you can get].

I echo what Baby Lee said. It was a brilliant movie. One of my favorites.

Really? It wasn't my favorite certainly, but fine for a Friday night rental. RT has it at 58%, and that's probably about right.

I think of Clive in both Inside Man and Children of Men, both pretty good flicks.

the action was okay, but some of the dialogue and acting was an abomination, even by action flick standards.

If there ever was a movie that was purely mediocre - that defined the word, in fact - it would be Body of Lies.

I watched Taken tonight. Not bad. Not quite what I thought it would , but I'm not quite sure exactly what I was expecting anyway. I liked it.
