New Truck Accessories

So I just put money down on a new Ford F150 that I am going to pick up next week. I am just wondering about the crap they try to sell you for extra money such as the paint protection and what not.

First the things I am not sure I should buy...

The have the a package deal for 1299 for rust protection, undercoat, ceramic paint protection, and an interior protection. The paint protection in this deal is suppose to just help keep the shine going apparently. They have another type of paint protection they call a clear bra or something like that. It is a scotchguard product they put just on like the first 14" of the truck. They want $499 just for that add on. He said you would see a little clear line where it stopped and started but other than that it was unnoticeable. Is any of this worth it? If you were buying it would you put that on your new truck?

Second the things I know I am going to purchase and not sure if I should do it thru the dealership...

I am buying the spray in bed liner and also a cover for the bed. The spray in bedliner will be $495 and has a lifetime guarantee on cracks/splitting/damage. Anyone know how much an outside places charges for something like that?

I was also going to just buy a cheap cover which they have a vinyl Truxedo Lo Pro for $550 installed but when I saw the Tonneau Revolver I considered it as it would offer protection from people breaking into the back as well as the cover protection and easy to roll up. I see some people claiming they leak around the edges though so I am a little concerned about that. Aren't those supposed to be water proof or do they all leak water around the edges. They have them online for around $900 and the dealer wants 1299 to install one. How hard are they to install exactly and do you think it would be worth that much extra money to ensure there aren't any issues with it?

Thanks!

No on the paint protection stuff.
Zion or zyex or something? Snake oil.

You might be able to save a couple bucks on the spray in liner but you might also check into a dual liner. If I drove a Ford that's what I would go with. My chevys have always just had a spray in liner when I bought them.

I'd pay them to install the cover. Peace of mind imo concerning future issues.

I have a Line-X bedliner and I think it cost a little over $500.

I think Rhino liner is cheaper but I wasnt thrilled with pictures of the end result I had seen on forums

Buddy of mine bought his own liner shit that he painted on with a roller and it turned out good.

Definitely.

Through Chevy they are less than 150 iirc and work from the factory switch. Well worth it to me.

My neighbor helped me install them. Ram. It has a switch just inside the bed and we mounted with tape. Love it.

I have to make sure mine are off or it would kill the battery. If factory-It would shut them off if on too long-like the dome lights....I assume.

According the car salesmen on /r/askcarsales on Reddit, the only one of the packages the dealers sell that's worth it is the wheel and tire package. The other stuff you can do better and cheaper on your own.

I had a Retrax tonneau cover on my Silverado. It rolled up and could be locked at any position. The only downside was there was a 1' x 1' box up against the cab that took up some space but there was a gap under so you could still slide lumber under it. I ordered it online and installed it myself and it was really easy.

I just bought a spray in liner for my pickup and it was like 675. Just make sure it is a heavy duty liner, not a really thin crappy one that will scratch right off.

Husky Liners sells floormats that are essentially Weathertech but cheaper.

Make sure it has mud guards. Those will save your paint far more than anything else. Husky sells those too.

I'd get a low profile toolbox that won't dick with your taneau cover.

One like this. I have a cheaper one.

If not they make some compartments for under the rear seat. Husky makes those too
