AZ Senator Kristen Sinema leaves Democrat Party-goes to Independent
Heard no rumblings out here that this was even being considered.

Something obviously happened after the election to either sour her to the Dems or this could be a maneuver for 2024 since many more Dem seats are up for reelection that the Republicans.

Have not heard if she will caucus with the Dems but initial word is she probably won't.

She is very independent in her stances.

Simple calculation. She wants to be the most important person in DC for a while, like Manchin was. She'll be facing a primary challenge and either needs the GOP in her state to warm to her, or she needs to become popular enough as a moderate/maverick that the primary challenge wouldn't succeed.

They are going to primary her with Gallego, and she might try to split the vote. It basically guarantees a Republican win in AZ.

This is just math. She figures she has a better chance of winning as an independent than as a dem. Dems were gonna try to primary her and I suspect they would have succeeded. This way, if the dems run against her in a 3 way, it guarantees a repub senator from AZ.

If she doesn't vote with her party the next 2 years, she'll be even more hated by the left. I wonder if she is attempting to get herself a TV career when her short-lived political one is over in 2024? Maybe go the Tulsi route and convince Faux Newz to give her a job....

She isn't splitting anyone's vote in a primary, if shes hated by the dems. Might even hurt the Republican, though at the moment this is obviously a blackmail ploy and a last gasp attempt at survival.
