AZ Senator Kristen Sinema leaves Democrat Party-goes to Independent
Heard no rumblings out here that this was even being considered.

Something obviously happened after the election to either sour her to the Dems or this could be a maneuver for 2024 since many more Dem seats are up for reelection that the Republicans.

Have not heard if she will caucus with the Dems but initial word is she probably won't.

She is very independent in her stances.

This is the dichotomy between the coalition perspective and the philosophical perspective.

They see people supporting Trump despite the things they don't like about him and see that as 'lockstep' and you read that as 'lockstep on issues' while they are saying 'strong coalitional bond'

They cite Romney and McCain and Cheney for how we reacted when they indicated fundamental philosophical differences and see it as coalitional rejection for criticism of tribal leaders.

It's why they deride people for 'hypocrisy' if we support someone for saying something we philosophically agree with and then later disagree with that same person if they say something we disagree with.

It's not so much a disagreement as it is people talking about two very different processes as if they are the same. For someone guided by a philosophical perspective it seems normal and natural to agree with some people sometimes and strongly disagree with them sometimes, depending on philosophical alignment relative to particular issues. And for someone guided by a coalitional perspective, it seems normal and natural to assess people based on their commitment to their allies and to opposition of their enemies.
