When they play KU, sure...but that is about it.

You are going to find their are quite a few MU fans on this board, and they cheer for MU football.

KU fans use football season to count down the days till basketball starts.

I didn't believe what you had before the edit either, since there is no such thing as a KU football fan. There are KU basketball fans who sometimes attend football games, but that's not the same thing.

It's weird that I've never once met any of the fans you describe, and you haven't met those I describe. We must know totally different people, and have had completely different interactions here. You might be a youngster, but in the 1980s the hate for Nebraska was so strong that many of my co-workers were actively rooting for OU most of those years. You might be too young to remember.

I've known a few people who married KSU girls or guys, and try to be nice by wishing them well. But I've never met one single KU alum who roots for K-State to beat KU. And neither have you.

No, of course not. Not head-to-head.

There's a difference between rooting against Nebraska and rooting for Oklahoma.

As far as the KU/KSU football fan, they root for KSU when not playing KU (and I know SEVERAL who used to root for KSU to beat KU back in the days before Mangino).

Hand to God. That changed after Mangino made them respectable for a while, but they absolutely pulled for KSU head to head against KU in football. One in particular would even talk shit against KU in football (strictly a KU basketball fan, so doesn't really count as a KU football fan...never pulled for KU football).

Of course. Just like there's a difference between rooting for KSU to win, and rooting for them to beat KU. That's never once happened obviously. Unless the KU fan wanted his coach to be fired, in which case I've even seen Mizzou fans rooting for KU to win to get rid of a coach. Quin Snyder, Stull etcetera. Doesn't make em KU fans.

I doubt those Mizzou fans back then were rooting for OU to wax Mizzou each year (at least I wouldn't think they were but you never know). Because come basketball season, they turned into big OU haters.

You are probably too young to remember it but in the 1980s it was my impression that OU was Mizzous biggest basketball rival. Even bigger than Kansas. Sounds unbelievable but that really was the situation back then.

I am not too young, and can say with certainty that this was not the case. Mizzou fans loved giving Billy Tubbs the finger, and the Antlers loved jeering him, but in no way was OU a bigger rival than KU.

Love watching Prison Bitch and Wickedson talk. It's like seeing a conversation between Golum and Smeagle.

I used to think that Prison Bitch was a Wickedson mult, until Prison Bitch posted in DC, and in DC he did not seem like Wickedson at all.

Well, you and I must've lived in a parallel universe too then. KU had 1.5 good teams that decade, OU was outstanding almost the whole time and Tubbs was a huge lightning rod across the conference. He could back it up at least. The Border War lost a lot of luster in the 70s and 80s. It didn't fully come back until Roy Williams arrived. Just my .02

Well, your two cents is completely wrong. KU went to multiple final fours and won a title in 88, so they did not exactly suck. Ask an MU fan about the best victories from that decade, and I am sure the name Lee Coward the Kansas Killer will come up.

The Border War never died or lost its luster when Norm was on the Mizzou bench.
