Yet Another 'Sanctuary City' To Be Declared In California

Needles, CA: Needles City Council voted unanimously to declare the City of Needles a Second Amendment Sanctuary City.

The vote occurred during the Needles City Council Meeting in Needles, California on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019. According to the agenda item packet released from the City of Needles, California has strict gun laws in comparison to neighboring states. Gun laws are set by the California Legislature. The federal constitution provides protections for citizens to “keep and bear arms.” Arizona Residents will not come here because of gun laws and business opportunities are being missed - Needles City Council Member Timothy Terral.

Councilor Terral’s request is to declare the City of Needles a Second Amendment Sanctuary City and to consider any or all of the following:

** Bulleted Points: **
  • To request that the Sheriff not enforce weapons violations by California, Nevada and Arizona residents.
  • To request that the Legislature allow an exemption to California gun laws for the City of Needles and within a 65 miles radius of Needles.
  • To request that the Legislature allow reciprocity of concealed weapons permits with Nevada and Arizona.
Fiscal Impact would be for the cost of research and ordinance preparation.

22. NCC discretionary item: Discuss declaring the city of Needles a Second Amendment Sanctuary City. Action was to form a committee to draft language to that effect.

That's good news - but you shouldn't have to pass a quirky ordinance to do what the Second Amendment already gives each law-abiding citizen. I get the idea - but still........

Heh.....if you've never been to Needles, you probably dont get the irony in this.

That place is pretty much a hell-hole (outside of it's proximity to Laughlin/Havasu), and probably the single-most hottest place I've ever experienced on this planet.

I remember getting out of my car to get gas, and the pavement nearly burning my feet through my shoes.

We drove from SWMO to California twice when I was a kid to visit family in LA and Pleasanton. We'd leave Friday at 5:30 when Dad got off work and drive through the night. Both times we stopped the second night in Needles. It's the hottest place I've ever been, by far, and I've lived in Vegas.

Man you don't fill up in Needles! What the hell is wrong with you? You get gas about a buck a gallon cheaper just across the river!
