The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

Sorry peeps. I guess all I'm saying is that not taking a QB in the first round for 30 years doesn't mean that taking a QB in the first round isn't necessarily a great idea.

He just needs to be worth it (and maybe Reid and company think he is...who knows).

The Niners have done it a few times......Alex Smith. Jim Druckenmiller. It doesn't always work out the way you want.

Joe Montana was a 3rd rounder. Steve Young was a trade. Kaep is a second rounder. Look...if the right guy is there in round one...you take him...no question. It just seems like people just really WANT Geno to be worth that pick.

I like the kid. I think he's first round talent. I think he'd be a good QB for Reid to get his hands on. I'm just not sure you want to take him #1 overall.

You just don't ****ing get it do you. First of all I wouldn't crown your boy Kaep just yet. He played a half season on a football team that was dominant in other aspects.

Second. Joe Montana is the ****ing EXCEPTION to the rule. Learn a little bit about what you are championing before you champion it. Otherwise you are just as you are, a know-nothing homer with no ****ing idea what happens outside your bubble.

Oh and by the way, Montana was the last QB to win a playoff game here. 20 years ago. Once again, he was the EXCEPTION to the rule. You have to go back ten years before that for us to have even had a QB WE DRAFTED IN ANY ROUND win us a game We have tried your stupid trade for Alex Smith's of the world for the past 30 years and it hasn't got us SHIT.

Well, it did get us something. It got us an absolute fan revolt in 2012 and a shiny #1 draft pick in 2013. So why in the **** would we keep on with the same shit that got us that and every other ****ing useless season since I was a child.

DIE.

Cool story, bro.

I hope everybody in the NFL cockblocks you, and you're stuck with Alex Smith for the remainder of his contract.

Speaking of parroting, Petro is telling callers that drafting a QB could set the franchise back at least 2 years.

As if we can get worse than 2-14 and no playoff wins in 20 ****ing years.

No, YOU aren't getting it. Taking a guy in round one doesn't win you ANYTHING. Taking the RIGHT guy wherever you take him is what makes you a winner.

Is Geno that guy?

Maybe.

As for Kaep....I really like him but I actually agree with you. We'll see next year.

Geno can go at 1.1 because he deserves to, he is as good as a prospect as ANY since 1992 barring Luck and Griffen, and even then is only a tiny notch under.

So no, once again, YOU are the one who does.not.get.it.

Chadiha isn't the brightest bulb in the shed. About the only thing he's ever been right about is Pioli.

For the 1000th time, If Reid and Co think he's that good he'll be the #1 pick. No question. Thats not even an argument.

I don't think that's the case, but that's just my opinion.
