Butker's not a small guy. He looks much bigger than the reporter.

Pretty cool vid! I can maybe see a 75-76 yard attempt, but coaches aren’t going to place their teams in a high risk situation farther than that.

I watched and enjoyed this video.
I'd like to see an analysis of the odds of converting a hail mary from different distances versus the odds of converting a field goal at those distances. A field goal's likelihood would consistently degrade with distance, whereas I think a hail mary's likelihood would be relatively consistent and then drop to near zero suddenly as the quarterback's maximum arm range was surpassed.

Very cool and very interesting, Mr. Baby Lee. Thanks for posting.
I was kinda hoping they would mention Jan Stenerud as one of the NFL's original kicking specialists, but they didn't (the rotten bastards). I also thought they might mention his name as one of the first to use the soccer-style kicking technique. For a long time (and as a Chiefs fan), I always believed that Stenerud was the originator of the soccer-style kick, but then I found out it was probably Pete Gogolak ... although I'm still not completely sure about that. Nevertheless, good on Buttkicker for being showcased on this deal. It makes me feel a bit regretful that I've been so hard on him. And, although I remain unconvinced that he possesses the Larry Bird Clutch Gene, I hope I'm proven wrong a hundred times over. It's interesting to understand how the "margin of error" decreases so dramatically as the distance increases. It makes perfect sense, but I never actually thought about the mathematics involved. A 5ish-degree margin of error from 70 yards out seems ... pretty damn impossible to me. It makes you wonder how in the hell that Colts kicker dude missed the chip shot in the playoff game. Surely he was within the 15-degree window ... or thereabouts. Still, as athletes grow in strength and nutrition and training techniques improve, I'm pretty sure we'll see a 70-yarder within the next couple of years. I have to wonder how Da Bears feel when they see this program. FAX |

Coaches would probably rather risk a hail mary. A hail mary might have a higher percentage of success rather than a 65-70 yard field goal.

Assuming, of course, that your kicker has been hitting them in warmups and feels confident. I can see it happening, for sure. FAX |

Chiefs sign FG kicking robot to a 50 year deal worth an estimated $3.50.
