Penbook and PGM are two in this very thread. You might want to pay attention.

Why? They're trying to trade down.

But they probably won't be able too. Branden Albert trade is far more likely.

I will admit I don't read all of Penbook's posts. I don't know if I really believe that PGM means it. None was a poor word choice. Most is better. Almost all also works.

And correct me if I am wrong, but "all the premature celebration" comes off like you are saying their is a lot of celebration, not just stuff coming from 2 or 3 people. "The Geno is coming here" isn't a popular thing on the board. Stuff like GoChiefs "Believe" picture are just people killing time in the offseason.

If you want to trade down you don't come out and say multiple times you don't see a first round qb then trade for your starter. Teams know we aren't taking geno and its looking like the jags won't either.

No.

They're performing their proper due diligence. There is no "intent" at this point in time.

It's also possible that every Top Ten team fills their starting QB position through free agency and trades, leaving Smith, Barkley and Nassib to drop considerably.

IF the Chiefs recover their second round pick via a trade, they might have enough ammo to grab one of those QB's in the latter half of the first round, if not high second round.

With that being the case, they must investigate and research every player that could possibly slip. What might not make sense for them at #1 might make sense at #25.

But it's ALL speculation, including the idea that the Chiefs have any "intention" of drafting Smith, period.

Every team looking to trade down smokescreens. Always.

Why do you think the Browns traded up for Richardson?

Do people really think the Chiefs will pay a 3rd QB 5m a year?

If you combine all three salarys together they are less than Romos contract and considerably less than a franchise qb.

I can't guarantee any info to be honest. Most of it has been great, but there's going to be a time that they just don't want anything out there and he will just give me what the company line is.

The guy did tell me that it's not a smoke screen that they like the skillset and that they don't feel Geno is NFL ready off the bat, but they love his long term outlook.

He said the reason Reid wanted Alex is because they felt this roster was ready to win day 1 and that he wanted to give veterans on the squad (Hali, DJ, Charles) a fighting chance for success. He said they didn't feel Geno could come in this year and win with this team that he's just not ready. The morale of the team was terrible at the end of last year and they didn't want another pathetic season because they are trying to break this losing culture. That Alex Smith had a lot to do with trying to right the ship immediately.

Now all of this just could be team speak and they really just want to drive up the value, but it's what I was told. Believe it, don't believe it, it's all the same to me.
