Currently Knight has Wesley's job. The free safety competiton is between Woods, Wesley, Harts, Pile, Bartee and Battle.

Woods isn't the same after his leg injury. Hopefully, another year, and working with a strength coach can get him back to form.
Wesley played Very Pedestrian football last year. He didn't hit with heart at all. Knight is a Strong Safety, and a pretty good one. The rest of the heap can scrap it out for the FS and depth positions. If Wesley is sooo pissed, he'd go down and work out with Wood's and his speed coach, hit the weights and work and hit so hard in TC that the Chiefs have no choice. What a problem, too many Safeties who deserve to start would be. |

Wesley would be better at FS than Knight.
REASON NO 1 OUR DEFENSE SUCKS: If a player excells at his positon, we immediately move him to some other position where we're weaker. Moronic. Let Knight be a probowl safety and find a REAL FS to challenge/replace Woods...

I would think that you field the best two, no matter who is on the roster. At this point, it's very tough to get a feel for who that will be. The good thing about it is that all 3 have played at a high level. I might add, the best 2 historically would be Knight and Woods. If all players play at thier highest level, they would be our starting safeties on '05 |

Woods is slow and contributes nothing to our defense. Sorry to say it because he used to be very good, but now he sucks and we need to move on.

A bit over the top, don't you think?
Woods was coming off an injury and has hired a speed coach to improve his speed. Based on public comments and actions, Woods certainly appears to have more desire than Wesley at this point. As far as contributing nothing to the Defense is concerned, which player is NOT described by that comment? I expect Wesley and Woods to fight it out for the starting position opposite Knight. Due to their new contracts, neither will be released. Someone’s gonna ride the pine. xoxo~ Gaz Trying to be fair. |

Woods was in his second season after the injury. And he played better in 2003.
I think the truth was that Robinson's scheme hid our major weakness at free safety.

Knight is a strong safety. They should leave him at the position he has been playing lately, especially since he isn't known for being that fast. The SS spot was Wesley's. Wesley has lost his job. The remaining question is whether or not Wesley can beat Woods out of his FS job. It'll be a fun camp for them.
