Mayor Pete is the president we need

Dude's a sharp and deep thinker and a clear communicator. He's got a great way to focus on what needs to be done, and has no time for the kind of demagoguery you see from Warren / Sanders.

And he isn't to show his age like Biden.

I'm guessing that opinion is formed by MSM, coastal bias that middle America wants an extreme version of progressive politics. These are the same people scratching their heads about why Biden has such high numbers even though nobody seems to really want him.

Progressives are idiots if they continue to treat middle America as flyover country because that's a huge reason Trump got elected. Pete is one of 4 candidates who gets that. The others being Biden, Klobuchar, yang. The only reason he hasn't taken the Biden vote yet is that those voters don't know yet if Pete has the experience to win the general election.

I don't think you're correct here. I'll give you an example.

Warren and Sanders want Medicare for All, and they want to eliminate private health insurance plans. Buttigieg wants a public option, and he wants to maintain private heath insurance plans.

That doesn't sound like an extreme Left position to me. It actually sounds kind of moderate.

Rural progressive is probably the better term. It takes some lf the populist platforms of the Trump movement that focus on manufacturing and labor. He backs unions and labor where his dem colleagues have entirely ignored. His Medicare for those who want it is a moderated stance on the progressive Medicare for all platform. He is reaching out to the "religious left" while the rest of the field refuses to even utter the word religion. He is courting a more conservative platform than his isolationist colleagues when it comes to defense and patriotism.

Only Pete, yang, Klobuchar, and to some extent Biden have made even a tiny effort to stake this position out. That's why Biden and buttigieg continue to surprise people. Their platforms are a hell of a lot less extreme than the progressive frontrunners.

Buttigieg's biggest problem is the fact that he's gay. I think it's probably insurmountable.

There is a certain percentage of the population who absolutely won't vote for him under any circumstances, because he is gay. That's a pretty big obstacle to overcome.

Rural progressives aren't trying to win the evangelist vote. Will never happen. But there are a lot more centrists in these areas and suburbs than people realize. And the rural progressive stance is still left but it's much more moderate than the progressive frontrunner. And a LOT of people in these areas who care a hell of a lot more about their union and manufacturing jobs than they care about social issues. But he doesn't have to win these areas. Even a few % points up can steal some of the rust belt states. This is why rural progressives had a surprisingly very strong showing in the general election.

You said Mayor Pete is farther to the Left than any of the other candidates. I simply pointed out that your statement is 100% incorrect, and I provided a specific example to prove it. The fact the Buttigieg is to the left of YOU doesn't mean he is to the left of all of the other candidates.

But since you brought up polling data, maybe YOU should read the polls.
