MLB playoffs are in the "Who Cares" department. I rather watch figure skating!

So you're saying that a pre-season football game SHOULD out draw a game where the ultimate record is about to be broken? Right.

That record chase went on for about week and it was always around 9 to 10 clock at night on ESPN2

Not to mention that every ESPN channel broke away from original "programing" to cover his at bats.

But cut him some slack he's a n00b.

The increase over the past seven years can be accounted for by increases in New York, Chicago, and LA. Almost every other stadium's attendance has been either stagnant or in decline. http://www.ballparksofbaseball.com/...3attendance.htm

Your link doesn't work. And just for the sake of argument, here's their entire table, modified to show yearly changes in attendance. For the purposes of this analysis, I defined an "increase" as being greater than 3%, a "decrease" as being greater than -3%, and "no change" as being between -3% and 3%.

Even if I change the definitions to be based on changes of 15% or greater, that still leaves 9 increases, 8 no changes, and 6 decreases over the period between 2000 and 2007.

Right. And the majority of the overall increase is due to increases in NY, LA, and Chicago.

People have been claiming "baseball is back" all year, and the stats don't really back that up.

I was surprised at the number of teams with new ballparks that had decreases, too.

Good lord, TBS is the absolute worst. The two guys doing the Sox game last night nearly put me to sleep and it seemed like TBS put all their money into winning the contract and forgot to buy mics for the field. I mean I don't think I heard the crowd even once durring the whole game.

unless the crowd really was quiet becasue only rich snoobs have enough money to actually attend the game.

I guess I just don't see where you're coming from. Sure, those cities had some of the largest increases, but that doesn't mean that the other cities' increases were insignificant.

With the exception of Frank Thomas, TBS's coverage has been terrific. Blows the doors off of what Fox or ESPN would've done.
