Run Defense SUCKS

All other bullshit aside, we only ran 51 plays to their 71.

We had the ball less than 10 minutes in the 2nd half.

IF we even make it to the playoffs with this horrid run D, we don't make it out of wildcard weekend if they don't do something drastic.

Oh, Spagnuolo was so awful and one dimensional, it made me want Sutton back. Where were his "adjustments"?

What’s the biggest reason we had the ball for so little time in the second half? Because it wasn’t the defense.

They had an 11 or 12 play drive that was ALL runs except one play in the 4th quarter that was almost 7 minutes by itself?

The Chiefs’ ability to have TOP is not affected by what the defense or opposing team’s offense is doing nearly as much as it is affected by their own offense. We had plenty of chances to swing the TOP in our favor when we had the hall but couldn’t do anything at all. Our first three possessions of the second half were absolute garbage. Any score on any one of those and we may win the game. A TD just one and we more than likely win the game despite all the running stats.

So...you DON'T think that the run defense is a problem?

Because every now and again, your offense just has a shit game. Weather gets bad in January. Need to stop the run. How many 4th downs did they convert by running tonight? How many did WE convert by running?

In the second half we had three straight possessions where we could have tied or taken the lead but failed to do so. On those possessions we had the ball a total of just over six minutes. Those offensive possessions are why we lost the game, not what the defense did between them. Them playing keep away would be irrelevant if those six minutes of possession got us 10 points or so.

While I agree the run defense was atrocious - we did hold them to 19......and I don't think that's bad. 3 of those came from a stupid-ass 4th and 1 call that we epically failed on.

Personally, I think we were pretty fortunate "hold" them to 19. That 14 play drive that started on our 48 and ate up 8:34... we were lucky that wasn't a TD given up. They were gashing us up the middle. 2nd at 2 they run wide, and lose 8 yards. Stay behind Nelson up the middle, and that is most likey a TD drive. (Damn good thing that drive started in our territory. If they had started inside their 20, that may have resulted in the longest drive time wise and play wise in NFL history)

Last drive of the game for them, the settled for the FG by running wide again on 3rd and a half of a yard. FG on 4th gave them the 2 score lead which was insurmountable.

They easily could have had 27 instead of 19 if they had wanted/needed to.

Yuo. The only reason it wasn't more was due to Indy shooting themselves in the foot and had NOTHING to do with our defense.

Oh yeah, Spags' defense is worse than Sutton at this point.

Straight garbage.

Holding them to 19 doesn’t mean shit when they’re intentionally taking 6-7 minutes a drive. They don’t want to score quick, they want to keep our offense off the field as long as possible and it worked to perfection tonight.

Yeah, they only scored 19, but we only had 20 minutes on offense. That was mind-numbingly horrific.
