Run Defense SUCKS

All other bullshit aside, we only ran 51 plays to their 71.

We had the ball less than 10 minutes in the 2nd half.

IF we even make it to the playoffs with this horrid run D, we don't make it out of wildcard weekend if they don't do something drastic.

Oh, Spagnuolo was so awful and one dimensional, it made me want Sutton back. Where were his "adjustments"?

Run Defense SUCKS

We have only played two games in which the game was in question going into the fourth quarter. Is it merely a coincidence that in both of those games the offense had severe issues? Or is it a majority contributing factor? Anyone who thinks the defense is worst than last year is not paying attention. They aren’t world beaters but they are not worst.

In the Lions game, one could argue the offense tried their best to lose, but the defense, by luck or not, did a decent job in the second half given what they had to work with by limiting the Lions. In the Colts game, they limited them to field goals whereas the offense played the worst they have played since Smith was here.

I’m not happy about the time of possession or defense overall, but ultimately whether the Chiefs have the ball for 40 minutes or 20 minutes, we all expect a win if we say the defense only gives up 20 points on any given day.

The D is 14th in points allowed, 18th in 3rd down conversion rate, and 4th in red zone touchdown percent. Those are all significant improvements, in some very key statistics, over last year. Last year the D was 24th in points allowed, 25th in 3rd down conversion rate, and 31st in red zone touchdown rate.

So all you chicken littles, dont be scared. This D is plenty good enough to win a SB. We good y'all.

I seem to recall a saying... Offense wins games, defense wins championships. One thing that the Patriots have done is field a decent defense. We don't see them posting statistics at the bottom of the league. This team needs balance. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the Chiefs can take away the run or the pass. I find it very frustrating; these players are the best of the best at the college level yet are totally inept at the professional level? Really?

Yeah, here's the thing. It's not a good defense yet. Not really average overall, but it's passable.

All offseason that's all we wanted.

There's definitely room for improvement, but when they go out and give up less than 400 yards of offense, 4.5 ypc and 19 points, well, it's hard for me to get that upset at them.

Sure, they need to be better, but if you had told me before the game that's what they're gonna do, I'd have said the Chiefs win 38-19.

It's an offensive squad. They do the heavy lifting.

KC's defense was #1 in 3rd down conversion rate and sacks at this point last season.

It's a long season. I know what I"m watching.

The biggest reason KC lost is simple: Andy Reid had one of his games where he passed at a 4-1 ration compared to running.

He did this while having the entire left side of his OL injured, his starting QB hobbled, both starting WR's out, and Kelce having a bad game and he put EVERYTHING on Mahomes. I don't know how the hell "We should run to protect our OL and QB" didn't' come up at halftime when it was a 1 score game.

But the run defense on this team is absolute ass and it's going to be a problem.

Yes, it's definitely A problem.

But if the offense does what it's supposed to do, it can be minimized.

I also don't know what you do when that happens. I'd rather put it all on the MVP QB I have, but there's no winning either way. They weren't gonna run it very well either.

They would have ran it fine if Andy hadn't benched our best RB for fumbling. Damien Williams has been useless this year.

AT one point they were 27-4 run/pass.

Mahomes is great, but let's not try to make his job as hard as possible. Especially with all the issues I laid out in the earlier post. We're going to get him killed. This is the NFL, not Texas Tech. Let's not do a 75/25 pass/run split. Being one dimensional does the defense's job for them.

Bingo.

I don't care about looking at the statistics because the underlying truth that is the problem is that it's not just the fact that they are terrible at stopping the run. The troubling issue is that even when they know what is coming, even when they adjust the alignment, they're still getting gashed.

The defense knows what is coming & still getting abused.

Forget about looking for a CB, this team should be looking at making a trade for a legit / marquee MIKE, and maybe a solid backup OLB.

The DLine has depth already- in spite of the current injuries to rotate as needed to stay fresh, and I've always subscribed to the notion that the line plugs & maintains gap discipline, and the LBers are supposed to flow downhill, shed blocks and plug the hole to make the tackle.

Name me a single LBer on this roster that you wouldn't want to hit FA & would be willing to pony up the $$$ to make sure they're in a Chiefs' uniform?

Yeah, me neither.

Reid said in the press conference that he liked some matchups in the secondary due to the Colts injuries and he thought he could take advantage of that. I dont think he expected our oline to get dominated the way it did. Running more wouldnt have worked. Our oline was getting the shit beat out of them on pass and run plays.

I dont put this loss on Reid it is because of bad play by our oline and run defense. Nothing a HC can really do when the oline is gettinf dominated.

The problem with alot of you guys is you are results oriented. Nobody is saying our offense sucks or they are the problem over the course of a season. But if the Chiefs won 35-19 many of you wouldn't bitch about the defense because we won.

The defense played up to their capabilities. The offense did not. It happens and is yo be expected when you miss your WR1 and WR2 most of the game.

You just recently suggested KC should never run the ball, so until I forget about that it's going to be hard to take you seriously.

They shouldnt. Why would you run a play that has a less effective net avg per play by almost twice as much as passing?
