I was on the tractor listening. I wasn’t the least bit surprised. Of course the chiefs have a thin chance at doing something and of course that thin chance gets hurt doing something innocuous.

I didn't watch the game (NyQuil due to a cold knocked my ass out) but I saw the replay and I'm disappointed. I'm a Pats fan but I love football and watching Mahomes play makes for a good football game. Silver lining is he isn't out for the season and should recover.

I just hugged my dog and watched. He must have thought something really horrible happened because he just sat there next to me in silence while I petted him and waited to know how bad it was. Then I got better pretty fast because I dislocated my kneecap back in the day and that helped my optimism return. I was back at work on my feet all shift in about 3 weeks. I knew it was possible that his was more damaged, but I'm happy my optimism was deserved.

I wasn’t thinking about how it hurts this year
I honestly had a feeling he was gonna get hurt at some point and miss time. So many times a team looks on the rise and gets hyped up and then injuries strike. Once Hill, Fischer wen down, I just had a feeling Mahomes was coming at some point. It was a mix of frustration and acceptance, thinking of course this would happen THIS year and mostly My fear was that it wasn’t something serious that could cause nerve damage or long term damage. |

My wife and I just looked at each other and shook our heads.
It's weird though, when I saw him walk without help, the tidal wave just like suddenly subsided. I can't really explain it, other than I had a peace that it wasn't a brutal injury. ....and that the season isn't lost. When Matt Moore hit reek in stride, I knew we were going to survive Mahomes absence, albeit barely. Good thing too, because otherwise the season had just become a whoooooole lot more boring. In October.... He truly is the new face of the NFL. |

I felt doom. Lots of doom. Started slamming beers at that point to just feel numb.

It was weird. Felt awful but had to keep my shit together because I was at a team food and football event with all the kids and families of the 8 year old football team I coach. Felt better when I got home and read his tweet.
