A couple reasons that I give the edge (no pun intended) to DE:

1. Reid seems to always be able to scheme to hide flaws along the OL
2. Mahomes is good enough to cover up a lot of their issues
3. Without making any moves at all, we’ll already be adding LDT and Niang for next year

Yep. DE is a bigger need, and a better value, high in the draft.

Unless a top flight tackle is there, OL can be gotten in the 2nd or even the 3rd and probably get a starter.

Yes. The soonest we can cut him and not take a terrible cap hit is after the 2021 season.

Not saying we don't need help on the edge, but if we want Mahomes to play for 12+ more years (WE DO), then we really need to protect him better.

Running option with your franchise QB in short yardage is a necessity at this point because of our OL.

We need to address that. I want to keep Patrick's hits to a minimum, such as on scambles when he chooses to run.

False, false, and just plain false.

1. The run option is part of our offense. We run it because it creates opportunities, not because we have to. They're not going to stop running it just because they get some new offensive linemen.

2. Guys get hurt regardless of the line in front of them. The Packers have invested over and over in their offensive line and Rodgers has had 2 season-ending injuries in the last 8 years.

3. Even great lines give up pressures. Our shitty d-line, against the Raiders highly-touted o-line, hit Carr 9 times in 2 games.

This idea that you can build a wall in front of Mahomes and he'll be fine is pure fantasy. The NFL doesn't work that way and furthermore, it's a bad investment. It doesn't show near the return that investing in skill players does because with more skill players, you can avoid hits altogether by getting the ball out of his hands faster.
