First Rock & Roll concert you ever saw?

Share whatever you want of the milestone

Oct. 2nd 1974. The New York Dolls and Lynyrd Skynyrd in Springfield, Missouri in what Was a bowling alley but I think it’s a Church now on Glenstone. Not too far from chestnut expressway. They both blew my mind. Opened up possibilities.

I saw the Rolling Stones in 1989 in Tampa on the Steel Wheels tour. That one would definitely be my second favorite.

Others - Def Leppard twice. Aerosmith twice, AC/DC twice, Metallica, Kenny Chesney - Don't judge, my wife wanted to see him, Elton John, Social Distortion, Wrathchild America before they turned into Souls at Zero.

Ones I wished I saw but didn't for some reason :
Van Halen with David Lee Roth
Journey
Bengals
Motley Crue
Guns N' Roses
Kid Rock
Ozzy
White Zombie

Sheesh, so many. I have some work to do.

This would make a great thread.

For me, I have terrible regrets that I never spent the extra money (as he was expensive) to see Prince live.

God I miss live music.......

I took my dad to the Farewell 1 show for Christmas. They were always his favorite band and because of him they became mine too. He never got to see them live. Watching him sing along with every song was cool. It was a very special time that I won't forget. He's much older and frail now and I don't think he could take going. Strokes are rough things. The second time time I saw them, I took my wife. It was amazing. Joe Walsh must have been feeling good that night. He was the life of the show.

It was such a sad day when Glenn Frey died. I'm not ashamed to say that it made me cry. I was kind of pissed when I heard Henley say they were going back on tour. Then I heard Deacon Frey was joining them along with Vince Gill. I have watched a bunch of concert footage with Deacon singing lead. He only does 2 or 3 but he does them really well. He has certainly grown more confident now. That said, I don't think I could go see them without Glenn Frey. It just doesn't feel right.

Dude, that sucks about Boston. They were so good.
There was a fantastic video from March of this year featuring Vince Gill singing lead on Take It To The Limit, but apparently the suits got to it because it's gone from YouTube now. It was every bit as good as Meisner's original. I meant to go see them last time they were in town but forgot about it until everything was sold out and wasn't going to pay reseller prices.

Yeah, Frey's death was awful. I had a friend who died from an infection like that. You wouldn't think that would be possible in this day and age, and I'm sure with his money he had the best of the best doctors trying to save him. Sometimes when you're number's up, it's just up. I was even more bummed out when Delp killed himself.

Saw her three or four years ago at a small local venue. It was like time travel; she hadn't lost a beat. Much like Ann Wilson, he voice is still powerful and amazing. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

For some reason, the image you posted doesn't show up, but I know what she looked like in the 80's. I don't think a person who looked as good as she did in the 80's should look like she does now. She's 65, which makes her 5 years younger than me, and there are a lot of better looking woman in my retirement community at the gym her same age. It's probably from hard living, drinking, drugging and smoking.

I'll give you a real example, here's a picture of my wife at age 65

First concert I ever went to was Bullet Boys and Winger opening for Cinderella, it was their 3rd album, the bluesy one. Winger actually was pretty good. The rest was kinda meh.

YouTube and their random copyright takedowns can be extremely annoying. I would imagine that in this case, it was The Eagles who requested it to be removed but often times, it's due to copyright flags by companies that have no right to claim infringement.

This happened to me less than 3 weeks ago: A production company in Vietnam that produces the most popular daytime drama (soap opera) in the entire country licensed a track for use in a promo for their upcoming season but it kept getting flagged for copyright infringement, so the promo was unavailable to view. They were freaking out because they'd spent so much time and money producing this spot, which YouTube wouldn't allow to stream.

I got a call and a text at like 6am PST asking me if I'd licensed the track to another publisher, which I did not. Anyway, after about 4 hours of research, emails and calls, I found that a publisher DID claim the copyright, even though they had no right to do so. About 8 hours later, the copyright was released but by that time, it was past midnight in Vietnam and we had no idea if YouTube's system allowed the promo to air in that country.

In the end, it was all worked out but I wasted a day chasing down something that shouldn't have even happened, so I can't even imagine what bands like the Eagles go through on YouTube.

I saw the Bulletboys the very first week I moved to LA in a club called FM Station that probably held less than 150 people and I have to say, they tore the roof off the place. I was shocked.

I also saw Cold Gin there a few days later, which was the KISS tribute band founded by Tommy Thayer, which was freaking AWESOME! They went on to earn $10k a night doing corporate events when Gene Simmons slapped a Cease & Desist order on them.

Seeing that tribute band is what led Gene to formulate the idea of putting together the original KISS, makeup and all, for their first world tour of original members in nearly 20 years. He hired Tommy as his personal assistant and on the nights when Ace was too wasted to play, Tommy stepped in for him, which led to him becoming a full member after Ace was fired.

I've never met Gene or Paul but I knew Eric Singer because he was roomies with Dave "The Beast" Spitz, whom I used to hang with and Tommy, who's just a super nice guy. I hadn't seen him in like 15 years when I ran into him in Palm Springs at a resort a few years back and even after all of the money and success, he was a still a normal dude.

The Bullet Boys were a mixed bag. The guitars drown out everything else and some of their songs had pretty memorable bass lines that you couldn't hear. Also the singer was either sick, drunk, or both because he was a mess.
