Putting down the bottle.
How many of you have done this? I'm starting to notice a pattern of me screwing shit up in my life and there always seems to be something involved.

Alcohol

I love drinking

But I'm sick of screwing up relationships and generally being a dumbass.

How many of you have done this? I feel like it's time (at least for a while) to cut the booze out of my life.

Any advice on what to do other than spend my weekend wasted drunk?

I'm a Friday night binge drinker, haha. I do so well all week health wise. Then it's Friday and I gotta enjoy my night to stay up and do whatever I want.

But I've never understood the angry, fighting drunks. I drink to relax and have a good time. Drinking for any other reason doesn't make sense to me. Even depressed drinking just sounds like a bad idea.

That's kind of how I am.. I've cut out the work night drinking minus a beer here or there. But from 4:00pm Friday to whenever I fall asleep Sunday I'm drinking.

Yeah, kinda similar. I usually drink so much on Friday nights that Saturday I take it easy and only have a couple beers or something. Sunday has to be a good day and I don't drink at all from Sun-Thursday.

My only reason to quit drinking would be to get in the top shape that I'd love to be in. I lift 5 days a week. But if I cut out drinking I could probably hit my goals pretty well and be where I want to be. Other than that I don't abuse alcohol in any way. I'm a good guy to be around while drinking.

I am kind of the same way. My wife and I have been drinking on average 4 nights out of the week for the past 6 years. Alcohol was great to me when I was younger, but then I stuck around as everything else came and went. Pretty much all of our activities revolve around booze, and it has gotten old for me. Been trying to quit, because I know in the long run, it's probably no good.

This. A lot. My life is basically nothing without my wife. And I'm sure the incoming child will be similar. Being with a good woman and achieving more as a unit than you could do on your own is special. There are really no words for it. P

Some people drink because they have something in their past they can't handle and they drink to dull the pain from that event or to forget about it. That is what my counselor, therapist, preacher or someone told me. Plus, I got kicked out of the Promise Land for drinking. True story Promise Land Academy at Three Brothers, Arkansas. My brother and I both got shunned from the Promise Land. I thought that wine in church was for drinking.
