Superman/Batman movie coming in 2016

---

Quote:
After decades of fighting evil solo, Batman and Superman will finally be teaming up on the big screen, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will direct the tentpole with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. It is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017.

Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

Quote:
Warner Bros. is about to bring together two of its most iconic heroes: Superman and Batman will unite in a new film, the follow-up to “Man of Steel,” set for release in 2015.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

Yeah, a couple of cars, some windows, a Coke sign, a radio tower, and a lot of newspaper strewn about. That's about it. Much of the fight scene is played for awkward laughs, a good part of it is underground and off-camera, and in the end, Superman eats bus when Disco Zod takes advantage of the fact that the hero keeps trying to actively save the unbelievably dopey bystanders.

So yeah, it's not even in the same league. The comparison is ridiculous.

Some people have way too much time on their hands- and this is the condensed version of someone's thesis that's apparently 15 chapters in length.

Theory overview is
BvS is a continuation of Nolan's Trilogy.
Affleck isn't Batman- he's Deathstroke

JGL's John Blake is the Robin who becomes Joker - played by Leto, now as the character has aged.

1st two Letters and last two letters of his name = Jo ke

Also mention of the trailer music song, " I started a joke, which started the whole world crying "
along with the messed up Robin suit in which you can see holes in the costume at the exact same spots where Leto has scars on his body in the stills of him released

Jeremy Irons isn't playing Alfred, he's William Randolph Wintergreen.

Obviously, they go into it a lot more, and with additional information. The belief being that Nolan oversaw Man of Steel and is overseeing BvS, he obviously has a hand in the all the movie's storylines, and will have input in the storyline for Justice League 1 & 2 .

Even if it totally isn't completely plausible and unlikely, the theory and explanation are definitely entertaining.

I didn't read it, but just from Anyong's overview it has the feel of some near genius level intellect on one serious acid trip trying to explain strange theorems that only make sense to him.

I don't think this is a valid criticism of Man of Steel... why would Zod go along with that idea?

But that said... that is exactly what happened in Superman II. I'm not sure what you're trying to argue here. Remember he looks around and sees all the destruction the fight is causing, turns and flies away from the fight and Zod (and the people watching) all say he's a coward.

Before even reading that link... the first problem is that the Nolans are not really that involved with Batman vs. Superman... at least from everything I've read, and they definitely have zero intention of helping out going forward. I think Christopher Nolan's title in this movie is just for name recognition only.

That was a result of Donner getting kicked off the project. He did Superman, and had pretty much shot Superman II... but when the producers kicked him off the project and brought in another director, he did enough reshoots so could get sole credit. He went for the laughs instead. Gene Hackman refused to participate in the reshoots. That same director did Superman III, which also went for laughs and Hackman wasn't in it either.

It still wouldn't have been what you saw in Man of Steel, but the original intention of Richard Donner was to do a serious take on that fight. It's a shame because I think if he had gotten his way it still would be considered one of the great superhero films ever.

Need I go on? Yes, I understand that all the pseudo fanboys really love these movies and I'm sure you could probably count them as decent to even GOOD movies, but they aren't good BATMAN movies. At no point in any of those movies is there a moment where you go, "holy shit, THAT'S the ****ing Batman I know I love."

Listen to the Kevin Smith podcast when they go over this and then the one about Man of Steel (Kev actually defends both movies), they dissect them pretty well and rightfully shit on them, spot on most of the times.
