Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Yes, it is.

Speaking of good sci-fi, I was hoping to see Moon this weekend, but it isn't playing anywhere near me. Probably at one of the arty theaters in Chicago, but I'm not dealing with Chicago traffic/parking just to see a movie. Hopefully it'll hit the burbs soon.

I think Moon is out in a week here so I might try and catch it soon since the arty theaters are all close to my place. Looks great.

I also just read today that it's directed by David Bowie's son which I found interesting.

Watched The Apartment this morning. French film starring Monica Bellucci. She is ****ing hot. Good film about mistaken identity. Starts a little slow and the ending is bad, but everything in the middle is good.

Moon looks great. There's a nice article on Wired about it, that does contain some spoilers, but the creator of the movie doesn't seem to mind.

Spoiler!
Just made me more excited to see it... here's the whole article...

Untraceable was an interesting flick. High-tech internet thriller in the likes of Saw, Silence of the Lambs.

Saw defiance...pretty good movie with daniel craig. 3.5/5 stars, worth the rent.

story about jewish people hiding in the forest to survive from getting murdered by the nazis. Some interesting and emotional scenes, but nothing new if you've seen similiar movies. based off true events.

Saw this a couple of weeks ago and loved it. It's currently playing in the arthouse/indie theaters:

You can watch the first 7 minutes on that site.

I thought it was pretty laughable. But I did not miss the message. And I kinda agree with it.

Watched Frost/Nixon last night, wow! great

Three O'Clock High - never seen it before, I liked it a lot actually. Someone recommended it to me, but of course the 35 yr old high school actors are pretty standard.

Yes Man - it was ok

side-note question

What'd everyone think of Quantum of Solace? Got through about thirty mins. last night, looks like it's going to be great.

I was terribly disappointed with it. I absolutely loved Casino Royale, and I thought switching the creative team killed QoS.

It was The Bond Identity, or Quantum of Supremacy... something along those lines.
