Any reasonable football fan acknowledges the Patriots as underdogs in this game for good reason. My only complaint has to do with that idiotic tomahawk chop chant you see/hear at Chiefs games. It makes the entire stadium seem inhabited by morons.

Pats are 5-0 vs playoff teams this year. 4-0 at home.1-0 on the road. We are 6-2 vs teams with winning records. The 5 losses vs bottom-dwellers vs all non-playoff teams means they lollygagged. They lost and its on them. Plain and simple.

Chiefs are 4-4 vs teams with winning records. What does it mean? Maybe something but it has nothing to do with Sunday.

Yeah, they "lollygagged" against the Steelers and Dolphins when they knew the top seed was on the line. If either of those goes the other way, we're going to Foxborough.

No motivation to win there. None whatsoever. Those games weren't important!

Lollygagging. You ****ing tool. Keep living in your dreamworld where it's apparently worse to lose by a field goal in LA than getting your shit pushed in by the Lions.

It may or may not matter in this upcoming game but I'd feel a little bit better about the Patriots chances to beat KC and then win the Super Bowl with Josh Gordon still available.

I don't even consider him an incredible talent at this stage since it appears as though he has a lost a little speeed but just a very good one in a role that Patriots could use. I may be wrong -- only the Patriots really no for sure -- but I actually thought he did a good job picking up the Patriots offense.

If the Patriots still had another play maker like the sure handed Amendola or more of a deep threat in Cooks or Gronk hadn't lost a 1/4 of a step, I'd be less concerned with the absence of Gordon. Yes, Edelman is on this years team and was hurt last year but a weakness of this years team is really not having a downfield threat that scares teams.

Even if he is going to retire after this year, Gronkowski's decline is way overstated but he has lost a 1/4 of a step and that does make him a bit less of a receiving threat.

Gordon was still a part of the 6 game winning streak. While he obviously doesn't know the route tree as well as Hogan or Dorsett, his general NFL experience really did help him get up to speed rather quickly. And whenever I watched him, he seemed to be a willing blocker and ran his routes pretty hard even when he had to know he was just a decoy on many plays.

From a selfish Patriots perspective, the good news is Gordon presence on the team probably helped out the other wide receivers and Gronk take a few less hits.

Assuming they get by KC -- a big assumption -- I'd flat out pick against the Patriots winning the Super Bowl if their wasn't a week off after this upcoming game. Win or lose, I suspect Edelman, Gronk, and White to a lesser extent to take a beating in this game.

Rest of AFC East has usually been mediocre over the years once the Patriots got really established with their 2nd Super Bowl win. Best way of perhaps looking at it is look at those teams records outside of their two games a regular season against the Patriots. (Probably something like a .485% winning percentage) Conclusion really is no great teams during the entire run BUT not that many truly terrible/pathetic teams compared to most divisions.

With the way the NFL scheduling works, a mediocre AFC east hasn't resulted in the Patriots getting a soft schedule.

What it really has resulted in many years is an easier path to the playoffs as division winner but the Patriots did miss the post season one year when Brady went down with 11 wins. Most years, the #1 or #2 seeds were earned....

And the other item of note, Miami especially in September really does seem like a tough place to play. New England has warm summers but if you aren't used to the heat in Miami and its hard to get used to it in a few days, tough not to be completely gassed playing against them when its hot/humid.

Baltimore and a few other teams have proven teams can win titles without a great QB as well so the lack of a "great QB" outside of Brady in the AFC East isn't the only reason their hasn't been another great team in that division.

I sincerely believe that the Chiefs will absolutely butt**** the Patriots on Sunday. The Patriots are total shit on the road. Arrowhead will make all the difference.

Well...being pragmatic, I tried to view how I would gauge playing Mahomes/Hill/Reid at Arrowhead from a Patriots perspective... and came to the conclusion I wouldn't feel very good about it.

The noise is going to be ruthless...if it's not frigid, it might be the loudest game in NFL history. The energy generated in that place is going to be crazy...that's a real, tangible thing. It threw the Colts completely out of kilter.. 49 years of waiting and never having a AFCCG in that stadium. It ****ed the Patriots up when they played here last...Brady actually got benched.

I should ask NE fans if they can remember Brady getting blown out on a nationally televised game...to the point Belichick waved in the white flag. I haven't watched every game in their 18 year history..

I would be concerned that Reid has put up 40 on them 3 times...in four match-ups. Only ONE of the 4 head-to-head Reid era Chiefs/Pats games has been in KC....and it was a 41-14 rout.

Brady is going to have to sacrifice his son to Moloch to win this one....

Here's a factoid for NE fans to chew on...KC hasn't allowed 30 points in 34 consecutive home games (#1 in the NFL) and have allowed 18 ppg @ Arrowhead this year. Chiefs have averaged 35 PPG this season...

BTW, Berry is playing...*waves to Gronk*''

NE isn't going to get the "Bortles" treatment on Sunday...they are going against a QB that is actually more popular than Brady, away from Foxborough. The NFL isn't interested in saving them like they did last season against the Jags....no late 2nd quarter bail out penalties in this one.

If I were game-planning this match-up...I would bank on the #1 pass rush at home with the crowd noise.

Crowd the 10 yard area and negate Brady's quick release. He's a statue...and the crowd is going to impede his audibles. Make him beat you deep without a legit deep threat...he might get a couple but not enough to keep pace with Mahomes. His game, at 41, is nickle and diming defenses...press at the line and bank on the noise and your top rated pass rush. Hitting him is how you beat them...it doesn't matter if he completes it. Just get in his head...

All KC needs is one or two stops....if NE gets behind 2 scores, they are screwed.

The Patriots didn't even know the top seed was on the line for both of those games. If the Patriots had won the first game and then Chiefs won out the rest of the way, Chiefs would still have HFA and #1 seed.

Patriots didn't know for sure that Chiefs would lose at Seattle.

And given Patriots have played at home in the AFC Championship when they were the #2 seed, they didn't even no for sure that losing the number 1 seed would result in being on the road for AFC Championship game.

If Patriots lose this game, I'd be surprised if Arrowhead was more then let's say a 4-5 point swing in Chiefs favor. Even though Chiefs play better at home, they were not gonna pull a Chargers and go to Foxborough and lay an egg.

In other words if Chiefs blow the Patriots out by 30 in this game, I suspect they would have dominated on the road as well -- I am just assuming same weather here is both locations.

If one looks at literally all of the playoff losses of the Patriots and watch the games during the Brady era, the conclusion in my opinion is they really weren't far off from winning nearly all of them. Only a few plays changing could have dramatically changed things. They sometimes really played bad but it was more so their own mistakes.

On the other hand, on a few of their home losses they have gotten their ***** handed to them. See Baltimore games....Outclassed in those games.

If the Chiefs destroy the Patriots at Arrowhead like 40-10 without a key Patriot(s) being injured, they have a _truly great_ team right now and it would be somewhat of a surprise for them to not win the Super Bowl.

Chiefs players won't make the mistake but I think Chief fans are sorely mistaken if they think this game will be easy since the Patriots went 3-5 on the road.

2 losses first month of the season without Brady's security blanket to make third downs(Edelman) and 2 of the other losses very competitive with the Patriots obviously blowing the Miami game on a fluke play.

If Mahomes plays as well as Blake Bortles did at home against the Patriots, Chiefs win.

But Bortles played won of the best games of his career in that particular game. Only on a few plays was he taking advantage of wide open receivers. He made a ton of throws to very well covered receivers. He was flat out tremendous and was willing to sacrifice his body on a few runs as well to try to pick up first downs. If he played like that each week on a consistent basis, he would probably be most coveted QB in the entire league. He doesn't and that is why his days as a starter are probably close to permanently being over.

I wonder how many current Pats fans even know who Steve Grogan is...or Russ Francis and Stanely Morgan.

Anyway...I think KC has too much momentum to lose this game at home. They would have to come out flat and timid...and that's not going to happen in the AFCCG.
