Shatner is truly a legend. He's approachable and hilarious.

Back in the mid-90's, he used to host karaoke at a bar called Residuals, less than half a block from my old apartment in Studio City, on Sunday nights. The place would be packed with other well-known actors and it was a freakin' riot.

I ran into him about 15 years later at Jerry's Famous Deli in Studio City, with his wife and kids, and he was just as kind and funny as he'd been years earlier.

The guy is a true gem.

So apparently, Laura Dern had a bad habit of saying "Pew" every time she fired her gun. It ended up in the movie...

This movie sucked. I love star wars, too. My two oldest kids fell asleep an hour in, and said they don't want to finish the movie.

Never though I'd see the day.

Sigh.

I think the Last Jedi is a good to great movie, in and of itself. But when you pair it up with the previous seven Star Wars films, it falls flat. Hard.

Loved the visuals, loved the cinematography, but Disney miscalculated rather badly with this film. I'm very interested in how JJ follows this up.

So I gave in and bought the bundle via Movies Anywhere because I wanted to see the Deleted Scenes, the "Making of" and the version of the film with no dialogue - basically a "Silent Film" version of the movie.

So far, we've watched the deleted scenes and the making of Featurettes but not the movie or the doco, "The Director and the Jedi".

After watching the deleted scenes, my oldest daughter turned to me and said "The movie would have been SO MUCH BETTER had they included the deleted scenes, especially those with Luke and Rey".

I have to agree. I'm not going to spoil the deleted scenes but had they been included, the film would have been more cohesive and would have had more of a "Star Wars feeling" to the film. And it's not like we're talking about 30 minutes, we're talking probably 10 minutes in total.

Ruin Johnson just made weird decision after weird decision with this film.

Huh, interesting. I heard one of the YouTube Star Wars guys talking about a scene between Luke and Rey that would have greatly enhanced the movie had they included it. I'll have to go dig it up now.

Yeah, there was one scene in particular that most certainly should have been included, as it was a serious

Why in the **** did they kill off the one convincing villain? Why in the **** did Luke have to project himself to the battle? The Empire can’t send fighters to destroy the Alliance ship? Why in the **** do you kill off the head stormtrooper in such shitty fashion? So many stupid decisions. This movie could have had 45 minutes cut out of it and it would have been better.

Snoke is interesting? Nah, **** him, let’s kill the one mysterious character in the whole ****ing show.

I rank this movie just above PM and AOTC. The force awakens wasn’t great, but it’s a ****ing masterpiece compared to this.

No ship to fly.

The Empire can’t send fighters to destroy the Alliance ship?

It was in the dialogue.

Meh. That wasn't the most absurd aspect of the film.

So many stupid decisions. This movie could have had 45 minutes cut out of it and it would have been better.

He was never intended to be around long. Just a stepping stone along Kylo Ren's story arc.

I rank this movie behind V and IV, though that could change depending upon how IX plays out.

Eh, we really didn't know much of anything about Palpatine in the original movies, his backstory was fleshed out in the later trilogy and EU. Kylo Ren as the big bad is the story of what would've happened if Vader killed Palpatine like he wanted to.

For me it's the following:

1. Rogue One
2. A New Hope
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. The Phantom Menace
5. Revenge of the Sith
6. Return of the Jedi
7. The Force Awakens
99. The Last Jedi

I know that a lot of people hate on TPM due to Jar Jar but Palpatine's backstory, Darth Maul, young Obi Wan and especially Qui-Gon Jinn are just epic, IMO.

The third act, with Padme leading the Naboo military while Obi Wan and Qui-Gon are battling Darth Maul while a space battle is happening simultaneously is one of the greatest Star Wars acts, IMO.

It's not as great as the third act of Rogue One but it's pretty close, IMO.

Unfortunately, for me, including Jar Jar Binks and casting a young Shirley Temple as Anakin Skywalker just ruined The Phantom Menace.
