****2018-2019 Official NBA Regular season thread****

Didn't see anybody starting this thread so I guess I will.

Anti climatic season starts tonight and my prediction is GS vs Boston in the NBA Finals.

First 2 Games tonight on TNT with Philly vs Boston and OKC vs GS. Westbrook is out tonight so that game will be a blowout most likely.

The style that is being played in the NBA today probably would have made someone like Shaq not as important, it's a style that is not going to go away.
It also signaled an end to the garbage basketball of the 90s. The Knicks/Heat model of winning games by hand-checking, fouling, and racing to 70 points.

Anyone that is bitching about 3's should remember this, is this really the basketball you want back?

**** no. I loved the way GS plays basketball pre KD and no KD. Houston on the other hand just chucks volume 3's and hope half go in and the other half is Harden flopping.

Oh, I absolutely agree with this. Houston is unwatchable now, and I used to love Harden.

I also think the de-emphasis of the classic big man is a good thing; it allows more teams to compete with solid guard play (like the NCAA). I also say this understanding that Giannis is the best player in the NBA and that Zion will go #1 overall.

I figured people would be happy that the teams that didn't have great centers could actually win now.

It only took the greatest player of all time to achieve that.

Other than the Bulls example most of the title teams were manned with dominant centers.

I loved watching SA play as well especially the 2014 team, it was beautiful to watch.

In regards to Zion I think he has bust written all over him IMHO. He is the ultimate tweener who can't shoot. He is basically a bigger Julius Randle.

Bball in the 90s wasnt garbage. It was more physical. You are just soft and only care about scoring and offensive highlights. No wonder you like GS so much.

No, great scorers still scored, bad basketball were still the teams like New York and Miami that seemed to not be able to score points at all.

That Spurs team played amazing team ball. Didnt tbey beat Lebron's super team by 20 in 4 of the 5 games or something?

It was more physical in the 80s and 90s. That's not up for debate. Hand-checking was allowed back then now it is not. I don't see how you can argue that today's NBA is just as physical when there is no hand-checking. Facts are facts buddy.

Not quite but the Spurs def put the smackdown on LeBron and the Heat in the 2013-2014 playoffs.

Game 1 - vs Miami W 110-95 (+15)
Game 2 - vs Miami L 98-96 (-2)
Game 3 - @ Miami W 111-92 (+19)
Game 4 - @ Miami W 107-86 (+21)
Game 5 - vs Miami W 104-87 (+17)

Won by an average of 18-pts. LOL!
