He's a hybrid S/LB that doesn't really fit well in a 4-3, IMO.

I'd have been a little interested in him last season in the 3-4 but I don't see much of a fit here. Sure, he's probably better than DoD and I imagine that's the role he'd play, but it's not like DoD is playing with the defense; he's almost exclusively playing STs.

He's not a better safety than Sorenson, not a better Sam than Wilson, not capable of playing Mike and he's probably virtually identical to Lee, though I actually like Lee a little more.

Nothing to see here really.

Deone Bucannon was drafted in the 1st round by Arizona Cardinals in 2014. Bruce Arians was Arizona's head coach at that time. Bucannon played for Arians for 4 years in Arizona.

Bruce Arians took the head coach job in Tampa Bay in 2019 and then free agent Deone Bucannon was signed to a 1 year $2.5 million contract with the Buccaneers.

Deone, a 6-1, 211 pound SS/LB, has been on the decline these last two seasons and this year with Tampa, he has only had 4 defensive snaps, 28 special team snaps and has 1 tackle in 5 games.

I don't think Deone Bucannon is the answer for the Chiefs however I do think the type of player that Deone was originally is something the Chiefs could use.
