I used to play CS competitively back in the day in cal-m (pretty high level of competition) in an actual clan. From experience, when clans are formed, after some time, different degrees of drama ensue and that shit is not fun.

Never saw a need for them. What's the point?

I used to enjoy changing my clan tag to the same as the opposing team (when the entire team is using the same tag). Pisses them off.
